They used to say you can't split an Atom, but by creating an ION, Nvidia has done just that

It's not technically splitting though when you're referring to electrons, but an Ion is "less" than an atom..

Actually, "split the atom" is a quote from computex'08:

Back when Via and nVidia were in love.... :p

does look like a nice HTPC box
only problem i have with these hardware video decoders is no bloody decent software seems to support it
you're basically stuck with something like powerdvd, which is crap :(
i really wish ffdshow supported this stuff :(

This is such a perfect opportunity for VIA or AMD to release a competitor to Atom that is NOT tied to a craptastic chipset. I get the impression that manufacturers are really sick and tired of Intel's BS about this and would jump onto any alternative that appeared. Unfortunately, VIA and AMD seem to content to sit on their asses and do nothing in the netbook/nettop market. Oh well...

The only hope we have right now is Media Player Classic - Home Cinema, but thats very much a work in progress still.

You can only say that if the Ion is worse than an atom

Come on AMD! Please be better.

edit: I just remembered - it has DDR3, is that a good thing? It is certainly an extra plus point it has over Intel.

Oh man, I have been looking for the perfect board for a Gamecube mod. This is perfect. And paired with a slot loading dvd drive and a 2.5" sata hdd it will be perfect.

probably - they're currently migrating everything to nvidia chipsets, so the appletv will probably migrate too

Ok guys, seems that you did not heard te latest news that Intel don't want to deliver the atom processor to Nvidia after all, Intel insists that the Atom only is for the Intel chipset.
