Nah, I don't think it's the end of AMD at all... but it's disappointing nonetheless.

only if they lower their price, and hopefully we'll have a budget quad core price war, everyone'll gain :)

Any news on backwards compatibility? Currently have AM2 system and if Phenoms don't actually work on that then I'd rather stepup to 775 than AM2+.

duc: as stated in the article, as long as your board has a BIOS that supports Phenom, it should work fine. Check with your motherboard vendor.

AM2+ cpu Should work on an AM2 mobo (update your BIOS from who ever makes your mobo)

with an updated bios every thing should work, how old is your mobo

the review any way was what i was expecting (this web site is the First Tab on my Opera browser)
Wish you had used the Same Clocked speed AMD64 X2 (3800.X2/4600.X2/5200.X2) chips then we be able to compare the Single threded tests of an X2 to an Phenom (X4) as from guesing X4 perform about the same as X2

Right i've slept on it a while and seems i'm waiting untill jan/feb 'till i part with my cash... i may just hold on to get some more news on a 9900 black edition... with some hardcore cooling and a better northbridge there could still be hope for this arachnid. :|
