Titan Fenrir TTC-NK85TZ CPU Cooler

Why did I have to buy my TRUE?

I'm impressed. Would this cooler be suitable for an AM3 cpu such as the Phenom II X4 955?

I'm pretty sure the mounting will be the same for AM3 as AM2+

That is a very impressive cooler. Beats a CM V8, very impressive.

Where are the TRUE and Akasa 966 in the charts? Even if the Akasa isn't as multi talented as the Titan I'd have thought it was the nearest value competitor on LGA775.

you can use this with the am3, i use it to cool my phenom 955 black edition, the only problem is, i cant get my side panel on, and im using a huge coolermaster cosmos s case,
i did finaly get the side panel on but i had to remove the large side panel fan

PS if you do use this for am3 take into account that it does not mount the same as the intel, on am3 board you can either have the fan pointing towards the roof of the case or to the bottom, NOT to the back or front,
with the fenrir pointing down on my am3 board there was only a small gap between the fan and the graphic card, look at the pics in my profile under "my pc"

Am I the only one who thinks this review really, really needed a direct comparison to the Thermalright Ultra eXtreme 120?


Why was this not included in the review? I seem to recall that had a delta T of 43 degrees (1366). Are you now saying the Fenrir is a better choice? If so, based on what? Pure performance, or price vs. performance.

I'm more confused after reading this than before. A few weeks ago, the Thermalright Ultra eXtreme 120 was the daddy... then along comes a test for the Fenrir, and it doesn't even feature the Thermalright?

From what I can tell... the Thermalright still seems like a better option, if more expensive... yet anyone new to the site would just buy this and not even consider the superior Thermalright.


Also, was the same testbed used as in the last review, because some coolers are featured in both tests, yet yield different results. If the same testbed wasn't used then you REALLY should have included the Thermalright Ultra eXtreme 120 in this test, as even comparing the figures from the last test is useless.

I just want to know which is best... Fenrir... or Thermalright Ultra eXtreme 120. It would have been great to see them side by side in the same test.

You missed an opportunity here... as I'm confident I'm not the only one who wanted to see Bit Tech's "Best Cooling Product 2008 Award" winner against the Fenrir.

I guess that for the first time ever, I'm gonna have to eschew Bit Tech in favour of another site to get the information I need.

Will be upgrading from my Freezer 7 to this in a Few Months, its the Loudest thing in my Case, so its got to go!

Will the Titan fit an Antec 300 with a side case-fan fitted? Again, where is the True Ultra 120???. It would have been nice, if you also included a custom fan in the tests, so that the base cooling potential of each part could be compared.

if you look at my profile and click on the "my pc" album you will see the fenrir on my botherboard, if it wont fit in my huge coolermaster cosmos s case,you might have the same problem with your antec 300, i had to remove my huge side panel fan to get the side panel on,
im going to sell my fenrir for £20 on ebay

Thermalright Ultra 120 RT and 2°C behind the Noctua. Of course the TRUE 120 and the Noctua had the advantage of being run with two 120mm fans.

yes but not by much concidering it has 2x120mm fans

But the True fans have a lower CFM rating. In this test all the coolers are retro-fitted with the same Yate Loon fan. The single fan Ultra 120, is 2.5 Celsius ahead of the Fenrir. The Megalems are fitted with 2 fans, so can't be directly compared.

As you could add a second fan to the Ultra 120, it is still the dog's danglies. If you want to spend the extra 30 quid for a dual fan Ultra 120, then you get the best cooler, however the Fenrir at almost half the price is a good choice, if it fits in your case?!
