Wow, what the heck is going on? Every time a new case comes out it either looks like ass or is rubbish, or both, or costs the earth.

What is wrong with a sleek, simple and affordable cases?

I am in the market for a new case but there is nothing that appeals to me doesn't cost £150.
Quote iggy2k 5th December 2008, 11:02
whoever thinks this case looks classy needs to be shot.

me stares at the reviewer.

matticus, get a p182, which this is basically a **** fugly copy of.

Ugly cheap looking Plastic crap for 125£?

No thanks, I don't mind paying a lot for a case, but then it a) better look good b) alu all the way c) be from a manufacturer you dont have to be ashamed of owning his products.

Translate as: Still nothing out there that can compete with Lian Li, Silverstone and some of the Coolermaster Cases in my opinion.
Quote Caliber 5th December 2008, 12:05
Wow, the cheapiness of the looks nearly surpasses its ridiculous name, great accomplishment id say.
Quote kenco_uk 5th December 2008, 12:19
Very fair ratings. It doesn't match up to other, superior cases though.

Thermaltake is using rubbish fans - it's always better to replace them. We had to change fans on every single thermaltake case we sold because some time later our customers were complaining about strange/loud noise comming out of their case(most of them were HTPCs). Fans Thermaltake use are completely oposite to quality of their cases.

How many things were broken during making this review? Handle broke, ATC broke, retention clips broke...

looks like tat, is named like tat and surprise surprise - IS tat.

i have to say i dont agree with the reviewer in the slightest, this is one of the ugliest cases i have ever seen. having said that i'll bet this will sell in spades in the US where for some reason this cheap plastic look and feel seems to be desirable

It's really not bad looking front on - very similar to a cosmos tbh. The rest of the case though isn't exactly a looker.
Quote crompers 5th December 2008, 14:13
they've used the weird half door thingys like on the armour. i guess if you like the friont just get one of them
Quote E.E.L. Ambiense 5th December 2008, 17:44
Hate to pile on Thermaltake too, but good god... It seems like they never actually quite put out anything good, no matter what they do. Honestly, the only Tt case I actually liked was the SwordM, but that was only after Bill O. hacked it up and molded it into something beyond awesome.

Oh well, moving on.
Quote Anakha 5th December 2008, 20:50
I'd like to see the results for this thing with it's cheapo plastic plates in. It's supposed to be a "Killer" feature, so let's see just how badly it hurts performance.

lian-li pc-71, lancool k7, antec p180, antec 900, all fairly simple, classically styled cases. i don't think anybody could have expected this thermaltake to be anything but what it is.
Quote DorkSterr 6th December 2008, 03:19
What's wrong with it? I think it looks nice...
Quote DorkSterr 6th December 2008, 03:20
P.s I just looked at the pictures didn't bother reading.
Quote The_Beast 6th December 2008, 05:08
Thanks but no thanks that thing is ugly
Quote Amon 6th December 2008, 05:46
Looks like, of not uglier, than a Ford Mustang.

That cooler matches well; Orange on/in black looks fabulous.

And was the build quality really that bad? Some of those interior photos give the impression of sturdy gunmetal steel.

Reading this review makes me feel a lot better about my CM590.

The actual core of the chassis is pretty good quality... it's all the plastic crap that Thermaltake has used for the hard drive caddies, trim, etc, etc that brings the quality right down because it just falls apart in your hands. Some of the case trim was falling off when we removed the case from the box, for example.
Quote Pookeyhead 6th December 2008, 12:51
A plastic looking case named after swimwear and costs £125? Thanks, but no thanks.

Lian Li for me.

I mostly like my CM690, besides the cheap and hard to use way of removing the front (plastic) panel and I had to mod the 3.5" converter to hold my HDD up in the 5.25" bays(I took out the "tool-less" HDD cage). I also have a new Antec 300. If I could go back, I'd use a 300 primarily, now going to paint the 300 black inside.

OT: Spedo=crap imo. CM ATSC/HAF is much more polished.

Ouch... well it's good to know, now, what's been compromised for its low price and possible initial appeal. Thanks.
Quote notatoad 6th December 2008, 22:59
compromise for it's low price? where are you shopping? looks pretty damn expensive if you ask me.
Quote Sparrowhawk 7th December 2008, 01:30
Parts falling off randomly? I've bought $50 cases (mostly for fodder) that were built better than this.
3/10 is optimistic.

$133.90, according to this review.
Quote Jipa 8th December 2008, 06:48
You can get crap for much less than 133$, so the price is high. I just hate when they do this, lots of fancy features on the paper, but the result is just terrible. Also what's with the NZXT Whisper in the test description?
