So the Omega has improved upon the Mirage with better provisions for cooling and a much better door, whilst keeping the excellent interior layout of its predecessors, but can it improve on the aspect where the Mirage really suffered, its lacklustre thermal performance?
After fitting our standard testing hardware into the Omega, we ran our usual battery of case tests involving high CPU and GPU loads to test the case's ability to keep internal components cool. For a little more depth on our testing procedure, you can read our full testing methodology here.
However, as well as test the stock cooling performance, we wanted to test the Omega to its full potential and decided to run our benchmarks again, this time with all four extra 120mm slots filled.
Akasa kindly sent us four of its Akasa Amber 120mm low noise fans for this purpose, so it'll certainly be interesting to see if when maxed out, the Omega can wrestle the thermal performance crown from the Multi-fanned madhouse that was the Lian Li Tyr X2000, and if it can, how much noise will all those extra fans generate?
