I doubt anyone splurging out on one of these boards won't plum for the onboard audio....

Well if on-board audio has moved into the realm of soundcards, then most people can save money and space by not bothering with a dedicated soundcard. And seeing as how motherboard manufacturers are making an effort in this area, it would be good to know if they work as advertised.

I would be far more likely to plum for mobo with on-board sound akin to a soundcard, than one without.
