Any chance you could chase Lian-Li about the xbox 360 case? Release date/prices/is that X on the side removable?
Bindibadgi 10th March 2008, 11:16 Quote
It's all still prototype stuff - nothing is final.

We've been "on the list" for one since CES too :)
DougEdey 10th March 2008, 11:19 Quote
But they must have some kind of ballpark date? 08? 09?

Wow, Rich. Well done.

I like MSI's 'Ride the Digital Rainbow' roffl.

Dolby's LED TV's sound very cool. It's something I'm certainly wanting to see with my own eyes. I wonder, with the new Lian Li cases due out, whether the prices will drop on the V1000 and V2000?

I just love some of the new Lian Li cases. They look really good!

But what's up with the jumpers on the Biostar board? Jumpers are just SO 90's!
KMS-oul 10th March 2008, 12:00 Quote
Lian-Li making a 360 case is an interesting Idea but with the the unreliabilty of the 360 I wonder how many people would buy one since it would void the warrenty. Then again the case is really aimed at enthusiasts who are more than likely have a few notes to burn..
Spaceraver 10th March 2008, 12:00 Quote
Well, If the LiLi X2000 Case is tall but not that deep ill have it.. Tho that depends on the asking price per se.
yakyb 10th March 2008, 12:12 Quote
the akasa case has been around for years (minus the frontend) its a great case but could do with a fair amount of tweaking before it becomes an excellent case
ryanjleng 10th March 2008, 12:13 Quote
great coverage.

yeah PSU is a high margin business, everyone seems to be jumping into it. great for consumer.

Lian Li tall case is a extremely attractive but will cost a couple of kidneys :)

Cheers :D

The new Vs will replace the current ones I think - end of line stock may go down in price.

Yakyb - It's been tweaked for CeBit, certain features have been improved even if the look remains the same.

Doug - I just emailed LiLi, will let you know if there's anything to report.

Whoops...someone forgot the basic fundamentals of mains connected power supplies - the male connector goes on the cable...

Good point, but then how do you explain the lead that plugs into the other side to feed the PSU it's juice?

Your find that the IEC power cable has a female connector as its supplying the power, the PSU has the male connector, as such with the power cable removed, there is no power going into the PSU thus no chance of shock or shorts.

It has been a standard for many years now that any device supplying power would use the female connector, and devices that would recieve power would utilize the male version of said connector.
IanW 10th March 2008, 15:03 Quote
Working as I do in the electronics industry (I build Mass Spectrometers!), I can confirm that standard practice is to always have a female connector on the power output of any cable or device.

This makes it harder to accidentally let out the magic blue smoke.
You did know that electricity is made of smoke, didn't you? If the smoke gets out, the device stops working. :D

Bindi did Dolby mention any manufacturers they were licensing the bright side tech too?

That is an input, not an output. There is only electricity on the input plug when a plug it plugged into it, which blocks access to fingers

edit: oops please delete

None were mentioned. I will ask. EDIT: Email fired :)

I took the liberty of contacting Tagan about this slight flaw of design, I recived a replay this afternoon...

My message to Tagan...
Quote:
Hi,
I would like to raise an issue with you with regards to one of your power supplys, the “Tagan BZ Series”, upon checking out this series power supply that I WAS interested in, I notice a flaw in this design, that with mains connected power supplies, the male connector goes on the power recieving end of the cable, thus preventing any electrical shocks or any short circuits, in short… considered to be a bit of a health and safety risk.

As I have come to discover on a few tech forums, many users are put off by this fact, of which many of us hope that this would be kindly addressed in the next revision of this series, in which I and many others would be more inclined to purchase.

Please see linked picture for further details (link to pic in these threads)

The replay...

Hi
Thanks for the mail and all Tagan PSUs have passed high standard European regulation
But your opinion is really useful even we have the most of certificates all over the countries
The mail has been forwarded to our RD and Technical Managers
From I can see, I believe we will modify the design in near future
Thank you again about the advice you provided

Best regards,

Naninni

So, one can only hope they will change this in the next revision of this unit.
