Is anyone interested in modded 174.16 drivers for G92?
I just did it, but I haven't fully tested them. At least they work in Windows 2D (WinXP SP2, BTW).
I wanted to play with the new video enhancements, that's all. :)

PD: In case there's any doubts, here's some proof. :D

In that case, I wouldn't recommend it - I should've stuck to my guns based on the RRP, not on the pre-order price Micro Direct put up. :(

This graphics segment certainly does feel like a great big mish-mash of sameness right now.:?

Yep, I think there's a column in it given that the price for the Zotac card has already gone back up to £140ish. At that price, you may as well just buy an 8800 GT - it's really that simple and I warned at least 5 or 6 partners of this. Anyone charging over £130 for an 9600 GT is basically ripping you off, no matter how highly overclocked it is.

If you want something that's relatively comparable (and much better value for money), just get a pre-overclocked 512MB 3850.

Its about damn time we will see a way faster 'next-gen' card soon. Because this is getting ridiculous. Because non of the so called new cards are faster then the GTX/ULTRA and those are like 50 years old, 2 times as fath and eat 2 times as much juice from the socket. I dont want new slow ****, i want new faster **** :(

I'm glad we've now decided on this - Fire breathing or not, it's not a dinosaur.

for anyone confused, see here: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2008/02/11/zotac_geforce_8800_gt_512mb_amp_edition/comments

Pah, I still disagree with this. I like the idea of a fire breathing dinosaur. Still more realistic that a mythical winged lizard.

they are starting from the middle with these ones..... interesting... i wonder how will be the performance with the 9800xx versions of it.....
Quote Amon 24th February 2008, 19:11
Tim, is it safe to say, then, that the mid-range market is something like as follows?
8800 GT
8800 GTS 320
8800 GTS 640
8800 GTS 512
8800 GS
3870 512
3850 256
Quote Tim S 24th February 2008, 19:15
I think it's more like this:

3850 256
8800 GS 384
8800 GT 256
3850 512
9600 GT 512
3870 512
8800 GT 512
8800 GTS 512

The old GTS cards are pretty much no longer available. :)

Would you say this card was longer or shorter than a 7800GTX? Mine is dying and needs replacing, but i'm not sure if i'd have enough room in the case...
Quote Tim S 24th February 2008, 23:20
It's probably around the same length (maybe a bit shorter off the top of my head). If you need a more concrete answer, I can get that for you tomorrow morning.

No Bioshock benchmark :(

Just ordered the XFX 9600GT XXX for £140, a little more than I wanted to pay but I've been putting off purchasing a new card for 12 months.

Sounds ok as is - if the size difference is only small i should be able to slot it in without any problems. Thinking I'll order one on payday.

Here are the comparisons for comparisons sake:

It's the same size as the 8800 GT (middle) as well, for reference purposes.

Yeah I realise that, but I needed HDMI and I'm also a fan of the XFX cards.

What's the difference between an 8800 and an 9800? What's the difference between a 9600 and a 9800? Is GTS better than GTX? What does it all meeeeean!
Quote DXR_13KE 2nd March 2008, 21:03
