Yes, it's the same kind of card. This review is a reference nVidia 8800GT, so the only difference between that and the one you've bought is: 1) Sticker with eVGA, 2) Higher clocks (superclock = 650C 1900M as opposed to 600C 1800M).
Quote M2k3 2nd November 2007, 21:35
The 8800GT looks like an excellent deal but I would've liked to see some benchmarks comparing PCI-e 1.1 and 2.0 with this card.

Looks like a good card, I might cancel my GTX, buy a EVGA 8800GT, and then when the GTX prices come down I'll do a Step Up program. :)

Edit: Could a mod change my name to Major instead of MajorGN? Cheers.

The Geforce 9800 will be release by then. :)

Unfortunately, as we lost about 24-48 hours of work with the steam update, there was no chance of including X1950 Pro performance, as the only titles that I could compare in (without adding twice the workload) were HL2:EP2, TF2 and ETQW. Given the schedule for this launch was already tight and I still missed it by four days, you might have expected the article by the end of next week. The primary purpose of the 8800 GT is to kick ass in DX10 titles at a good price point, and second comes DX9 performance.

That said, if there is enough demand I am thinking of an WinXP performance update covering the new GPUs from AMD/Nvidia once they're both out, as that will give you some idea of how they perform compared to previous gen cards.

Did you guys do any clocking of this card?

I agree, we need something faster to play Crysis, although I've been reasonably content with 1680x1050 / very high / 0xAA 0xAF on a GTX @ 650/1550/2000. I'd like to enable AA/AF, but even without that, the game still looks simply stunning!

This kind of comment really makes it worthwhile going through the emotions and frustrations of getting something like this done - thanks!

Lack of time prevented it - sorry! Nvidia quotes TDPmax at 105W, so you can expect this to be about 60-70 percent more frugal on the old power consumption compared to an 8800 GTX.

Guys, I thought AA was introduced for lower resolutions anyway, surely with a 22" Monitor you do not need AA.

This is another article in itself, but again we're open to suggestions on what you guys want to see. I don't think there will be much difference, but we can certainly have a look. :)

Some are still very sensitive to aliasing, and I find that if there's power to turn AA on on a 30" display, I still like to be able to do it. ;)

I've sorted your name change request btw. ;)

Thanks Tim. :)

I was asking, as I am receiving the 22" Samsung Pebble as a present, and as I have changed my mind to buy the superclocked version of this card, I really would like to run Crysis looking good, with decent FPS. ;)

Yes please have a look; I am sure there are a fair number of people are curious about this. Is 2.0 really needed at this moment in time or is it all marketing?

i think pci express 2 will be backwards compatible......

What an absolute corker of a review! So many resolutions/settings tested.. wow!

I think those with an 8800GTS 640MB can sit comfortably, for the moment :)

I'm afraid I haven't had the time to read through all of it, but I noticed a mistake in the last paragraph on page four: "this includes the anything released after the GeForce 7800" - omit 'the'.
Quote Nature 2nd November 2007, 23:08
The best 8800GT review on the web. Well done you bitty techies. This only means good things for the GPU market and us poor saps only being able to fantasize about playing these games...

Now if only I could find a supreme internet cafe with some dark chamber with the bit-tech-test set up PC and 7.1 surround sound... These games make consoles look like integrated graphics on a laptop.

Well, I sold mine because if I didn't I would of lost a lot of money on it from what I paid for it (£290).

I think for high-end cards it will be marketing more than anything but for cards that are sharing local system memory (TurboCache-enabled cards or ATI HD 2000-series cards) if required... anything with 512MB or more onboard memory shouldn't see much difference. However, if something warrants a look, we'll have a look. ;)

Was waiting for this review and it is by far the best review on the net for sure, all the other sites are like "OMGWTFBBQSAUCE" saying its the best card ever. Where bit goes in depth and gives real results and explanations. I think it goes to show just how respected Bit-tech is on the net for people to wait for the final word on things to come from bit.

but it's Point of View card, so i don't expect this card to make much money, seeing it's a crap brand.

i think for Crysis, someone can overclock their watercooled Ultra to 700/2200, it would be enjoyable on Very High at 1680x1050 with no AA. Crysis NEEDS more than 512MB of vRAM and it NEEDS more GPU processing power. that's why the GT performed well at low resolutions, it's got may be more processing power than the GTX.
