Thanks for including the 640mb version of the gts in your review. Somehow the majority of GT reviews I have read have ommited it from their benchmarks.

Looks like on helluva card, great review. The crysis test scares me though.
Quote samkiller42 2nd November 2007, 18:18
Thats some power. 2 frames difference in bioshock between this in sli and a gtx in sli. Thats as some would say 'sick'

Looks like a great card. Now, if only I knew how well the new Radeon's are going to perform! Roll on the 16th of November. :)

As I said, I'd still gun for the single GTX for the time being, as SLI isn't always right where it should be. I see SLI as the upgrade that happens in a couple of months when even newer games come out. :)

I guess the test will be Crysis though, as that's one game that I think will stand the test of time.

NEED!

30 FPS @ 1280x1024 full settings? Perfect for £170!

Well done nVidia!

Nice review!
What is the second "performance" grade for? Is is SLI?
Why do you have 200 copies of Call of Juarez? It seems a bit excessive!

Great review Tim - well worth the extra effort after your steam disaster! :)
Quote Tejstar 2nd November 2007, 18:41
Excellent review guys - well worth the wait. Also nice to see the SLI results in there too.

It seems like a brilliant time to be in the market for a mid-range card and I can't wait to see what ATi has in store for us with it's HD 3800 series launch in a couple of weeks time. I doubt it will beat the 8800GT but if nothing else it should help to bring the prices down a bit!

Welcome to the forums Tejstar!
Quote Naberius 2nd November 2007, 18:54
You have performance in the results section twice, 9 for one and 10 for the other.

Looks a nice card at a very nice price.
Quote Tejstar 2nd November 2007, 18:54
Thanks Mankz! :)

Whoops, the second Performance score was meant to be Value - I've updated those now... I was very close to giving it a perfect 10!

Mmmmh...single slot good power...It's the best at "performance per slot", and that's important !
Really good card it seems, I think it will be a success, at a cheap price !

what happened in "Crysis SP demo, 1920x1200 0xAA 16xAF, High Detail" did the low bandwidth limit the GT? lol

overall, it's a killer for performance/price.
but i would still stick with my GTX :D (what a deal, bought my GTX for £190 1 month ago)

I think deep down, a part of the chip died inside when it saw what it had to run...

<GF8800GT> you're expecting me to do all of this?
<Crysis> yeah, bite me.
<GF8800GT> Waaaaaah!!

I'll be rebuilding my computer in January so the market could have changed a lot by then (depending mainly on the 3800), but at the moment this would be the card I would use.
Quote jase4772 2nd November 2007, 19:36
Bit of a git after not long having bought my 320mb GTS thinking it was the best mid range card, and thats after not being an early adopter. Wonder how many other people will feel hacked off by this cards release?
Quote Woodstock 2nd November 2007, 20:14
bah tempting, so hard to decide between this and the gtx, i think what ill do is get this and upgrade again in a year or so
Quote Jodiuh 2nd November 2007, 20:47
Excellent job w/ the Crysis demo. Repeatable results and clear labeling of your settings make Jod a very happy gamer. I thought you'd like to know I'm using one of your images on [H]. I'm hosting it and giving credit as well as a positive comment, but just let me know and I'll pull it down.

Thanks!

Aargh, no edit? It def looks like Crysis eats video ram for breakfast. We're going to need 160 shaders and 1GB to play this @ hi res, hi aa, high detail...

Did you guys do any clocking of this card?
Quote Kipman725 2nd November 2007, 21:06
no comparisons to lower end cards like the x1950pro? would be more use as this cards target is people trying to save some money
