Compact flash will probably die if not properly managed, you'll have to be looking at an expensive solid state drive in the long term ;)
Places like mini-itx.com do offer mobile CPU mini-itx motherboards, and places like ebuyer sometimes offer mobile cpus. They are definitely available, you just have to nose around. To be honest though, if you're willing to spend a bit of cash matrox do remote desktop kit that plugs into a pci-express x1 socket: you can have a kick ass PC in another room or up to several hundred feet away iirc, and still use the pc like it was next to you. The serious version is "large company" expensive iirc, but it's a kick ass product.
btw, does the epia board support widescreen resolutions such as 1440x900? All VIA's other epia boards do not and it's really pathetic (for the resolution to be supported it has to be defined in the VGA bios or sumthing like that). this one has a DVI port so maybe they put more effort in.
