Hm. While it sounds like a decent piece of kit overall, I think the Dell 2407 really pushes it out of the option running - unless, of course, you've had bad experiences with Dell and have therefore discounted them. The adjustability, card reader and USB hub are all extras in the 2407 that increase it's usefulness drastically. (Portrait mode is so useful sometimes!)

I haven't tried it tbh, though I'd be willing to bet that is has something to do with the presence of StarForce in TN. Despite it being a free download the developers didn't see fit to remove it; there is an Vista update for StarForce if you're interested.
The thing I don't like about this monitor is that it has an HDMI port, and I'd prefer it if display companies would start pushing the DisplayPort standard instead.
Royalty fee FREE! = cheaper products.
Higher bandwidth
Runs on a lower voltage
...to name a few good points
The other thing I'd like to have seen in this monitor is an LED-backlit panel, but that's maybe asking for a bit too much.

Yeah, it's still a little early for LED backlit displays but we're seeing them in some notebooks - with impressive results. As for DisplayPort, I know that one very prominent display manufacturer is developing displays using it in some interesting ways. That's as much as I can say. ;)
Ive always liked viewsonic, but I'm very happy with my benq. However I noticed the viewing angles aren't as good as they could be. Especially compared to my friends 23inch apple display. But that thing has horrible contrast anyways...
interesting you say that busterboo, as BenQ quotes a 176° viewing angle... I can't remember how good it was when we looked at it, but I'm surprised you've said that. :)
Well, you can see the display from all angles, but if you look at it on the side the contrast looks far worse then looking straight on. My friends apple 23inch looks the exact same from all angles.

Ah right, I've definitely seen that on quite a few monitors... claiming really great viewing angles, but neglecting poor contrast ratios at extreme angles. :)

They are sister sites, but previously Bit would simply link to TR rather than copy their entire article wholesale. Bit crappy really, but thats what happens when a good enthusiast site goes commercial :(
Anyway I'd rather have this over the Viewsonic, Samsung, Dell and BenQ (now Qisda :( ) ;)

I think that's kind of harsh considering the content we've now been providing after being "commercial". And the fact that we still aren't as bad as many other sites when it comes to having advertising everywhere etc.
It was a Sunday afternoon review and not everyone at bit-tech reads a TR review. We felt it was applicable and decided to republish it for those who hadn't seen it, that's all. :)
TR do mostly monitors, although we have a new "gaming" one in from Asus which bit will specifically do in the near future.
It's a point taken, but it's also something we don't do very often, and as you know we only ever do stuff we think you guys should read/would like to read.
Surely you should say "Taken from TrustedReviews" on the review then? I think the complaint is that it was marketed as a Bit Review, but it's actually a TR one.
90% of bit-techers don't read TrustedReviews but we're glad you're one of them - thanks for the support. We felt that, in addition to our regular output of world-leading hardware and gaming reviews, you guys would be interested in reviews of the latest big-screen gaming monitors. Our stats show that 1680 x 1050 has come from nowhere to being one of the most popular desktop resolutions used to browse the site.
Many people buying a new system / upgrading between now and Christmas will bypass the 22-inch category and treat themselves to a 24-inch monitor (I know I will be). There are a number of new models that we think you guys would want to know about: which are Must Haves and which are to be avoided.

Entirely my thoughts, we just discussed this in the office :)

Point taken, but back in the day Bit would never have copied anothers article. Feels all a bit CNet to me ;)
For what it's worth, there was actually some more testing done on the monitor by myself, specifically the gaming section which was not included in the TR review. Therefore, it's not just TR's review republished, it's TR's review adjusted with some additional testing that I feel is very relevant to our readers.

I refuse to mind meld with you RTT! Even if you do have good taste in music.
Tim: Some indicator that the content wasn't original would have placated most people. And it would have promoted TR for people that may be interested in products which you do not review.

IMHO Viewsonic make some of the best moniters, I adore my VX922 and by Brothers VX2025.

Hardly. ;)
Mostly office apps that have pages/tables deeper than they are wide. :)

I mean, who can be bothered to lean over and look at wierd angles when you want to put a memory card in!
Having said that, I'd take basically any free 24" TFT any day of the week
