I also have the mx1000. but sadly i do think its going to go to the graveyard or maybe my mouse for when i start my HTPC project. I like the revolutions functionality but i prefer the functionality of the G7 more likeHotswap batteriesand in battle DPI changing Hi, medium or low.
As far as I know Logitech dumped BT for all except its office packages because of the extra response time. As far as I am aware they use their proprietary RF signal.

i use a mx1000 for gaming and since its pretty much a upgraded clone i cant see how it would be bad for gaming if its based off the mx1000. Which i have found to be much better than something like a mx518 for example. I always find that the "gaming" mice are way too light and don't feel accurate at all.

Smart choice.
You're taking my advice while looking fashionably honorable while doing so.
Too bad I can't cower behind any regulars here eh?

Not only that, but I also have various very large eBook PDFs here, and it makes it a breeze to scroll through them.
As for your comment about document flip vs. window flip... Well, document flip is a lot easier to access, especially with it being right on your mouse, whereas you have to press multiple buttons on your keyboard to bring up window flip in Vista. So yes, I feel it is better than window flip, however not as flashy.

I'm thinking you don't go to uni...
which uni's make you read something 200 pages long? power point slide?

I'm pretty sure he does. I'm also pretty sure that anything in a decent amount of detail to do with a uni course is that long.
Might want to try being tactful or at least the slightest bit polite considering how new you are around here. Taking offence to peoples' arguments against/for a product just isn't necessary. ;)

I'm pretty sure I go to uni too... since well... I go to uni.
Sorry but no prof is going to make you read 200 pages of notes at once.

but yea... prof upload notes.. you print them out... bring to lecture... so instead of furiously jotting down notes, you can actually listen and understand...
this is true for my Ochem, Biochem, GChem and even stats.
where you can't quickly draw the structure/molecule/ graphs and corresponding sample
and they're ~20 pages... and you don't actually READ them on the PC. Much easier on the eyes to print them out since you have to bring to class anyways..

Because of course every university in the entire world follows yours as an example. Also, your last point is terrible. I've read 200 page e-books on the PC without any trouble and I imagine many others have too.

Who said community college? Not every (in fact hardly any) University courses use notes entirely. Please can't you just accept the fact that not everyone is like you. We all use PCs differently, both at home and at work - and the fact that some people bring work home is not a 'sux to be you' situation.

So how would the university in your world work?
don't forget, you'll have to incorporate the crazy prof that hands out 200 pages of e-notes.
Good for you!!! 200 whole pages... did you remember to not book mark and therefore had to hyperscroll, again scanning at 50 lines/s, to get to where you were?
Think about WHY I said these things... not whether you've done it, but whether you've used hyperscroll to DO it

Okay.... so... what would the uni hand out 200 pages for? which was originally what I asked... in which I assumed notes... but then you said "not everything is notes" or something to that effect...
Sure we all use PC differently. But we're not going to scroll through 200+ pages at 50 lines/sec
It's ridiculous. You're not going to see where you're going or where you're going to stop at. Most of you are too ret@rded to realize the examples I've shown are not whether you've used 200+ pages or not, but you at least require 200+ pages to USE freespin... to which, you'll never catch where you want to go.
And maybe you like to bring work home.. but the whole reason why I'm choosing dentist over doctor is that you don't have to be on call.

OK I've just realised how stupid arguing about a mouse on the internet is, and it scares me a little that I didn't realise it earlier, so I'm not getting into this anymore.
But, I'm not talking about someone distributing 200 pages of notes for one lecture - it could quite easily be a list of courses with details or other information. Also, thinking about it, 50 lines per second doesn't sound that much, or at least it's slow enough to keep pace with where you are. There ARE scrollbars in most programs now - I can't see finding your place in a large PDF being a problem.
Thanks for the congratulations though, I was pretty chuffed when I finished the feat of biblical proportions and finally reached that 200 page mark. 14/08/2002 never forget. B)
Here at Bellevue Community College, I have yet to have a single class where notes are available online in a year and a half of full-time attending. That's how the college in my world does work.
I would like to have a prof hand out 200 pages worth of notes, as it would mean I could skip buying the book. I already carry my laptop to class, so I wouldn't even need to worry about printing the notes.
And scrolling fast is a function that I use on a regular basis. When I'm holding down the [page down] key, I can catch words and phrases as they go past, and keep track of where I am. Having a hyper-scrolling mouse would make that easier, especially if the document scrolled smoothly rather than jumping from one page to the next.
(and to repeat myself, I don't bring work home. Not that I would mind... I work in the back, building computers. A regular day for me involves a couple Core 2 Duos, two to six 8800s, and a couple of terrabytes of hard drive space. Taking some of those home would make a definite improvement over my X800 and Opteron 165.)

I'm not really sure how fast hyperscrolling is... but I've seen a lot of text fly by scrolling through just 300 pages of intel's datasheets... too fast for me to read

Which is why I'm saying the MX revolution is ridiculous to begin with... since it's hyperscroll is used to getting somewhere on large pdfs or words or excel sheets.

Yea, I know what you mean... one time I was at pg 199 and my eyes started bleeding... then with a heavy sigh, I had to switched to the paperback version... for which I only read another 500 pages.

Free-spin mode for hyper-fast, nearly frictionless scrolling. With a single flick, the machined alloy wheel spins for up to seven seconds, scrolling hundreds of pages or thousands of rows. Fly through long documents, and instantly stop wherever you want. http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2135,CONTENTID=12134&ad=lgp_MXRev
Work logs... must be at least 10 whole pages... mighty good use for the freespin. :)
As for document flip. I have it on my MX1000 too.. do I use it? USELESS
I'm thinking you don't go to uni...

I've already answered this.
Don't lie. You can't skim for bugs when you're scrolling 50line/sec.
Might want to try being tactful or at least the slightest bit polite considering how new you are around here. Taking offence to peoples' arguments against/for a product just isn't necessary. ;)
Do NOT call me a liar. Just because I do things differently to you does not make me wrong.
I'm pretty sure I go to uni too... since well... I go to uni.

5. I am not attractive
Can I call you ugly?
Be serious. You CANNOT DEBUG GOING HYPERSCROLLING. and we all know freespin = hyperscrolling... click mode for ... guess what? slow scroll!!!!
slow scrolling = able to read
50lines/s = You're wasting your time.

/Leaving this discussion because it's gone far away from the main topic and I may get pissed off.
