I think this would be great in a HTPC setting. Do you think the 120mm fan be able to be swapped out for a lower speed fan without a big drop in performance?
yeah, i'm sure it could be, but to be honest most of the noise comes from the pump. The pump can also have its voltage reduced to 8V if required, but that would need a bit of technical know-how.

I reckon that still would need some technical know-how. ;)

Well, for someone who has never fitted watercooling to their system slicing through the cables might be a bit daunting. Anyway, the fan is fine, so there really is no need to reduce its speed further. In fact, you run the risk of stopping it altogether if the switch is on low. Good idea though if you know what you are doing.
Was the alphacool setup installed in the same case with the same hardware or are the quoted temperatures from the previous review? As there are not any photographs to illustrate that part of the comaprison is unclear.

The test setup was the same throughout for all hardware.
so basically your saying this is even an option for the pro's (which i most deffinately am not) when the gpu and north bridge addons arrive? seems much less hastle, much easier to maintain and around the same price give or take a tenner...no?

We would like to test the other components fully before saying a definative yes to your question, so product availability and time permitting we will extend the review with the GPU/Northbridge add ons.

Only concern is the potentially poor sealing between the radiator and fan, what would you say about that?
I think that it'll be fine, even after prolonged use, just keep the seal tight or and use the ones supplied with it, or order some from corsair itself or a specialist modding community.
Because Socket A is far past EOL. If you want to mount this on your S-A board, just steal the mounting clip from the stock solution, and trim down the foam accordingly.
I'm going to fully water cool my Striker mobo since the heatsinks run way to high even though I have 4 high speed stacker fans hitting them.
This will do the job nicely and considering how toasty the Prescot's were, it should handle both NB/SB/Mosfets & Perhaps my OCZ Flexx all on low speed.

Yes, I asked a complete noobie to watercooling to have a go at fitting it and he managed with no problems at all.

Now if they could just do a silver version too ... :p

Great review ;)
