Okay, so this plays 1080i video... but what's the video out on it? Does it have component? Or would you just use the DVI out.. I have had spotty luck using the DVI on some newer TV's...

The TV-Out connector on the back plate is HDTV ready, most board partners will include a YPbPr (RGB) connector. :)

Why is there so much talk about LOTR: The Battle for Middle Earth 2, and then a screenshot of BFME 1? :p You can tell it's the original game because the sequel has a completely revamped base building mechanic, one which doesn't involve those set base areas.

Oh that's just nitpicking.

Looks like a good value segment card, but imo $99 is still a decent chunk of change for what you're getting. There are also a good number of people who want "just video output" and would still have to cough up a good $60 because most any semi-decent motherboard won't have an onboard solution.

Wasn't Matrox supposed to have a solution for that? A PCIEx1 card with a pair of DVI ports at a low price, meant for (multi-display) 2d work?

You can also tell it's the original game because the sequel isn't out until March.... :o I have corrected the article.

Most semi-decent motherboards for video out (HTPC wise) are now coming with onboard, actually. This is for those who want something better than onboard, which will not be free. If you want to decode 1080p, you need something...$99 is a very reasonable price for HD.

And yeah, matrox has a PCI card with dual dvi, from what I recall. It's not PCIe even, I don't think...meant so you can take any ATX mobo and give it several video-outs.

ooo this is good, that card in a HTPC and youll be laughing. Now if they could only get it built into a mini-itx board.

"I would bet an entire sheet of bit-tech case badges that not one of you shouted out 'GeForce 6200 with TurboCache!" Am I right?"

No worries, the best of us make mistakes occasionally. :D The others, such as myself, make them in the normal course of things.

Turbo cache technology is just cool. Someone should make a card that can use 4 GB's of memory.

Problem is that system memory is very slow when compared to the GDDR3 on graphics cards. When graphics card memory runs out, it's paged to main RAM and some textures are just stored there anyway to save VRAM.

Theres always one :p :)

Looks worth considering if I decide to build an HTPC (not anytime soon though), I've ordered the XFX 7800GTX 256Mb *instert stupid words here to make it sound better than another card here* (the best 256Mb one XFX do:p) off scan a few days ago. Although I'm gonna be pretty annoyed if they bring out the 7900 anytime soon and everyone lowers the price of the 7800 .

It's a bit stupid really when people say it won't play Doom 3, FEAR, etc. I'm sure it can. My X300 can play every game I've thrown at it, sure the newer ones are on low settings but it's still playing them.
