My SN25P is very quiet on the 'Ultra Quiet' setting but my SK43G isn't. :)
I've shown this machine to a few friends who are shuttle lovers, although they fell in love with the even smaller case of this little fiend, they werent impressed with the 1 RAM slot or its lack of tv tuners. As all 3 of them have their shuttles going into HDTV's (yes they are students with too much money) this is definately a PC nudge into the retro/modtro computer market world already dominated by MAC. Naturally my housemate who has about 8 mac products jabbered on about them 'stealing macs ideas/designs' (such a fool)
i still dont understand why the mce remotes are not rf?? i may be wrong but from a comment earlier in the thread it was said an internal ir port for the remote would be useful.

But if you did that, it would no longer look anything like what it is. :)
A lot of people with Mac minis seem to be getting external hard drives which stack on top, or just sit beside it. That seems a bit pointless to me, you may as well make the machine half an inch higher and stick a full-size (and faster) one in instead.
Why to make this kind of design? If you already took the laptop components apart, you can make it even slicker by just cutting the LCD screen off and leaving the laptop sit in your media rack.

But that adds heat, noise and power consumption. Which is what they're trying to avoid in those tiny things. You could just as easily replace the internal drive with a bigger one if you want.
About IR/RF remotes... RF is the only way to fly. Being able to change my volume of my speakers in my second-floor room from the basement rocks. Especially as it's to the point of instant hearing damage if I'm in the same room when they're loud enough to be loud in the basement. With IR, I have to stand outside the door and hope for the best.

I love RF remotes...though frankly, I've been playing around with new toys for an upcoming article, and I now realize that once you have wifi and various TCP/IP functional devices, a remote is simply far too outdated of technology. ;)
A HTPC without an integrated tuner and remote control isn't a HTPC IMO. I would have thought that one tuner was the minimum, two being ideal and three just being greedy :D.

My is pretty quite it has a p4 2.53 installed in but it has a WD 80GB drive that make a whine that drove me mad so gave to my parents. I think that the Evesham looks great but because it is marketed as a media computer it need some type of video capture included.

I dunno, my HTPC has a tuner, but I don't use it. I only use it for playing back TV episodes I've downloaded, plus music & photos.
my sn45g was moderatly noisy before being modded, now the only sound is a faint clicking wine on the edge of hearing from the psu fan, I may do the slim 80mm fan mod to the psu but that would ruin the sleek look of the shell.

When i sort myself out with one it's gonna replace pretty much everything under the telly. So a tuner is a must for me.

not sure if it's good or bad.... :(
Um, well, I sure have. I've been waiting on this moment for two years. My in-dash carputer can finally become a reality.
Isn't anyone else out there excited about a car install w/ one of these?
AverMedeia M105
Yuan MPC622-MCE
Provideo PV-971
LifeView Fly DVB-T Duo?
I can see they could all fit, but does anybody know how the antenna cable connects?
...or where to get them from for that matter?
