Dunno, I have a noiseless system in a $50 case. No moving parts at all (hd stops after 3 minutes) though the PSU does have a very slight electrical hum to it (one of the external bricks). Powerful? No, it's an EPIA MII-10000 (1.0ghz) with a $5 Zalman chipset heatsink on the processor. Ultra quiet? You betcha. Strong enough to display some video anyways, which is all I'd need. Considering the whole system was under $300 as I salvaged the laptop hard drive, ram, and DVD, I'd put it as a pretty good value compared to the zalman.
Still, no beating a "proper" system for actually doing stuff. It's enough to serve out video and type in Word, but much beyond that is painful. Though that might be in part from the XP/256MB RAM combo.
Nice Piece of eqipment and Iam glad to see that some of us agree that its alot of money for it and that they would rather spend it on a cpu instead of a case.
But on the other hand some of us don't like tweaking our systems to reach a optimum level and their are people out their who no nothing about pc and they are most properly ones who will pay that with a smile....

You really think someone having no clue of computers will spend like 500 £ on a case if they can get a 'high-end system' (rofl @...) for the same price? Not really. They'd go for the cheap rig as they wouldn't care about noise or even didn't know at all there IS a case like the Zalman's out there.
to the people who say its exepensive and so on, you have to remember this is to make a high end system silent not a mini itx system. i would like to see you play f.e.a.r on an m10000.

I would like to see you to play FEAR on a 6600 and a processor that cannot use more that 75w. :)
The reality is, it's expensive for what it can do. It's not expensive compared to the beblu HTPC, which for the same price is only an epia board...but at the very least, you don't have to assemble the beblu. Due to its hardware constraints, the best it can be is a midrange HTPC, but a silent one. And is that worth over 500 quid to have a case that can't sit under your TV?
Frankly, I could go buy a nice silverstone HTPC case, fill it with decent hardware, and watercool it...and save an easy $100 in the process. And it'll sit right under my TV, looking cooler than any of the other things in my entertainment center.
I have 500 series at home... i'm pretty happy with it... I'm serisouly concidering this one too... I have been tryng to get a silant PC for about 4 years now, heh

Seriously?! You have the 500? That thing is a beast. How well does it work for you?

It works very well, EXCEPT, the HD noise issue. since the case has holes at the top and bottom to allow air flow, you can head the drives. I do have segates, not too loud drives, and they are the loudest things in the box now. the ideal situation would be to have a bunch of 5.25" internal drive bay so I coul put on HD silencers... I saw some from Quite PC and thinking of somehow retroffiting the case. A few of my issues with the doors and lots of holes in the case have been resolved with the new version of the 500, the 500AF.
I would recomend the case for anyone who is serious (or obsessed as I am) about computer noise.
Its the same with the SD11G5 i just reviewed, effiectively silent but the damn harddisk makes it 10x noisier. If you can get a 4200rpm lappy drive it would be impossible to tell it was on, but it would also be seriously slow.
Think my whole computer cost £500 and thats silent, 1x5v 120mm fan with 2 stacked 120mm rads and a 7v pump coupled with a tagan psu makes it nice and whisper quiet :D.
That thing looks nice but its just way too over the top.

I have only the raptor I use in testing. 10k rpm is the wrong end of the stick methinks.
The Spinpoint Drives are near silent. My SATA 80gb at their loudest emit a squrting kinda noise when seeking... perfect silence when the Reserator I have hadn't developed the impellor rattle it suffers from now.
I would definately shell out the money for it for an htpc/living room pc. I would not, however, be sticking it under the TV. Why: I love the style of this case, it would be a bit of eye candy for the room, regardless of whether one knows much about PC's or even if it is recognised as a PC at all. Perhaps it would go near the TV in a slightly more prominent position.
Unfortunately I will not be shelling out for one in the near future as my gameing rig is under construction (and the lian-li case now seems cheap in comparison :) ).
Another vote for high res shots.
Thanks for the review.
Please note that I'm not totally impartial on this issue, I import mCubeds stuff to sweden. But in my own private mCubed HFX chassi I run an AMD dual core 3800+ overclocked from 2,0GHz to 2,4 GHz and a 7800GTX overclocked from 430MHz to 485MHz. The only moving part, the harddisk, is in a special enclosure inside the chassi so it's totally impossible to hear too. The pc is TOTALLY fanless. Passive cooling only. Yep, the HFX is heavy and by no means small :D but it is totally silent. And my wife accepts it in the living room :) :D

Any chance of some more pictures of the exterior?

And that ain't me.
So I'll stick to coolermaster case .....for now.
Its BIG & HEAVY and just ooozes the £500 price tag (well imho MORE than £500).
I could never personally justify spending that much on a case but its still on my wish list :D

I vote for more Hi-Rez shots as well, in fact for all your reviews!
When compared against A-Tech 6000 its quite reasonably priced. But its horses for courses this is not aimed at the £100 market segment!
Anyway its on my shortlist for sure ;)
