I ordered this notebook and it arrived after 2 weeks (on Thursday morning). I managed to use it for about 30-40minutes before it gave me a blue screen and reset itself. From then on, it would do it every few minutes and gradually got worse. Eventually it wouldn't even turn on so I had to ring the technical support. After taking the battery out and holding in the power button for a minute, I reconnected everything and it worked until... another blue screen and reset.
They sent out someone to repair it the next day. The guy on the phone suspected it was a fan problem and this was true because the fan had not worked -at all-. (Friday) So the repair guy gave me an entirely new base machine but swapped over the RAM, processor and HDD from the old one into the new. It ran smoothly again for about 30-40 minutes then I had the same problem. Now they suspected that a RAM card was faulty but they couldn't issue out the part incase that wasn't what was wrong with it.... So someone is coming to collect it on (Monday) so they can test it out for another week or more. They refused to give me a whole new machine.
In conclusion, I really have to persuade anyone against getting this notebook. I'll post back here if there are any updates.
I am now the proud owner of said laptop for bout a month now and am very happy though not high end anymore. Gonna wait for Santa Rose platform and 8800gtx go before i upgrade and yea a stable version of vista.
I'd just like any info on how to update the bios and i'm hoping theres a bios available that lets me alter the FSB and Mem settings.
the reason i went evesham is got the c720 for 600quid a month ago which i think is a bargain. Also evesham performs better then Rock which doesn't make sense to me as there on exactly the same platform.
From the look on there support website I can say they suck ass as its messy n basically kuk which is a local south african sayin for elephant dudu
and any1 gettin a evesham first thing u should do is format and do a clean install of windows as when i got my laptop it was slow and full of kuk
next machine i will be gettin will be rock definately as they have a streamlined product range and totaly focused on gamers it seems but just need to sort out why they underperforming compared to evesham...... maybe they using low quality mem or just gettin lesser performing hardware from intel n nvidia n such as they smaller
but will stop babbling now as evesham customer support sucks unless u wanna call em which i havn't....but they brilliant up until u've transferred ur cash
4+days later i finally get a response in email telling me i must contact clevo about bios updates, not something i'd expect from evesham selling what is obviously a gamers laptop
think i'd have to recomend ROCK over evesham as though the same machine it looks better but also allows u to increase the FSB in the bios.
Just a general question here why dont laptops allow the range of options PC bios' do? For instance my old PC i got to run a whole lot sweeter by configuring the mem correctly....but i'm happy wit da support as i got the info in the end
