Ultra are starting to get something of a name for themselves. Between being the first on the block with a modular power supply and kicking out some extremely fast DDR RAM, they're proving that they know how to make kit that appeals to geeks like us.

Today we have a couple of small accessories that might float your boat.

Ultra Ramsinks / Media Bay Memory heatspreaders Ultra Ramsinks / Media Bay Memory heatspreaders
These are heatspreaders for DIMMs, designed to take heat away from memory modules to enable better overclocking and more system stability (as well as to look funky). They're incredibly simple, and not badly priced at $7 a throw.

So, installation is dead simple. Take a DDR or DDR2 module and peel back the protective backing on the sticky tape.

Then, stick one half of the spreader on each side of the memory stick, and use these clips to keep it in place.

And that's it really. There's no doubt that these look great, and will be a great colour-coordinate for your case colour scheme, if that kind of thing appeals to you.

The downside? The sticky tape is just standard 3M stuff, which has absolutely no heat-conducting properties whatsoever - meaning your heatspreaders do virtually nothing practical. Why couldn't we have some thermal adhesive or similar included? As far as overclocking, or extra performance, these won't deliver a thing - in fact, you'll find that even on most performance memory modules like Corsair or Crucial Ballistix, the heatspreaders really don't deliver any extra overclocking headroom. Purely for aesthetics, then.
