Halo usually scores massively high from other sites and is full of fan-boy hype like the terrible COD series. Most reviews have given it 90% and said that it's basically exactly the same as previous games....which to my mind means it should score considerably less....games should be imaginative and strive to push themselves forward.
Halo is more of the same old same old....don't get me wrong it's a good solid same old that's fun...but Halo has never been an outstanding game...more a reliable workhorse to through some hours at and know exactly what you'll get.
I love the whole Halo universe; its really what got me into gaming in the first place, so i have a particular soft spot and somewhat rose-tinted specs to the franchise. From the sounds of it, I think they've done enough for me to keep it fresh over the years. The story telling and the voice acting has always grabbed me and sucked me in, so for me, its a massive relief that i343 haven't messed with that formula too much.
Call me odd, but in a world where the 'Military' shooter has more or less taken over, Halo seems to be getting more and more important in my gaming world.
After fighting Russians, 'Arabs', more Russians and Arabs backed by the CIA this year, I'm really looking forward to a game about a super jumping man-tank who fights glowing aliens. Also it's the only Xbox game I can think of that has a real, mostly good community. Bring forth the shotgun!
Shotgun!
Shotgun Damnit!
Never really got into it. Enjoyed halo 3 single player but it just feels a little stale for my liking. Bought ODST and felt it was the same? That was the last one i bought. Just me?
GAME dispatched my copy yesterday, really looking forwards to it. This game will be make or break for me as i really enjoyed Bungies Halo. Gotta give 343i a chance though. 4 Days to go :D
I have Halo 4 SE on pre order but its my xmas prezie along with Forza Horizon SE. which to start first? if my brother has his way we'll be on Horizon all day.
@ Griffter the lowest score BT have ever given a game I think was 15.
I think 80% is a very fair but conservative score and the Halo series may never have quite blown my socks off but was definitely fun to play and may well pick this when the price drops a little.

Every night I'm home early enough to do so for the foreseeable future mate ;) Will add you the next time I'm on :) I take it you play Reach as well?

This review is a bit "by the numbers" IMHO.
What were the negative points to justify the 80% again?
I know that Halo4 is not gonna score high on a PC centric site for a long list of understandable reasons. But some comparison and contrast would still be nice.

Be warned though, if you’ve tried Halo before and didn’t like it, there’s not much here to convince you otherwise.
Isn't this true of all francises; FIFA, CoD etc?
Similarly most people that dislike Halo, (aside from reasons of console, controls, graphics) do so because they dislike the genre of arcadey sci-fi shooters. So there's nothing a developer can do about that IMO.

PC version plskthx.
Ain't that the truth. I find it slightly odd that Microsoft don't see fit to release the Halo series for PC. The usual excuses - there's no market for it, it'll cost too much to port - don't seem to apply, because as with any AAA-rated title there are always PC buyers, and since the Xbox is Microsoft's own machine I can't see why it should be particularly hard to port. The unusual excuses - the PC version would graphically shame the Xbox, the keyboard/mouse combination would shame the controller, limiting to Xbox forces people to buy Xboxes - are all I can come up with...

To be honest, in recent years there have been more than enough pc games where keyboard and mouse where officially supported, but the controls where still influenced by the console versions which made controls rubbish.
DX HR? forced 3rd person view at times which ruins aiming
Fear 3? hyper sluggish response to input
All Capcom Pc shooters? horrible controls
Skyrim? curse that useless when used with a mouse menu.
Assassins Creed? Oh the horror of playing that with KB + Mouse.
Not even Minecraft managed to get it right and that was originally PC only, I mean seriously, what jerk of a developer limits what keys you can assign in the menu to what action?
And so on...
Lets face it, the days of the original Unreal Tournament when controls worked just fine with KB + Mouse are long over.

Maybe it's the complete lack of innovation? The same reason the CoD series has scored steadily less every review on the site. Yes, it's Halo and yes it all ''works'' but there's no real attempt to break the mold and inject something new into it. Hence the score. I would assume!

Mircrosoft are idiots for not releasing the other Halo games (beyond 1 and 2) on PC.
Not only have they lost customers and in turn money, but they've let fans of the Halo franchise like me down.
