So the legend lives on - and largely unspoilt at that. While I'm too mean to snap this up at full price, I know a certain mate of mine at work will happily throw down a wad of cash when I point him at this review. Cheers!
I had been worried that this would be a complete massacre of the original Max Payne games, I'm quite happy that it appears to have stayed faithful. Good review, and a game I'll pick up some time down the line.
I'd pretty much written this game off before review - I couldn't see how they could make a setting change work for a new MP, but I'm a bit more convinced now. I'll pick it up when it's down in a sale. :D
Loving this review, looking forward to playing this. Different story, better graphics and pretty much the same game play......I can handle that! If it ain't broke......don't fix it!! I am just wondering if the 80% goes with the overall feeling of the written review? Don't usually comment on the %......guess I am a fan of the series. Does that make me a fan boy....errrrr!!
The problem with Max Payne is that it was a game with a gimmick, and that gimmick is now half-gone. Without the noir setting and comic book presentation, all we have is slow-motion, and in 2012 that is not enough to set a game apart anymore.
LOL. Diablo 3 or Max Payne 3? I just can't decide... the two games are so similar.
+1
But if the PC version is on rails like the first two, I can wait until its on sale like the other posters here. GTA IV is too much fun, even if the parking spot thieves stole the Infernus.
The audio is outstanding, from the excellent score and meaty sound effects to the perfect delivery of James McCaffrey.
Did HEALTH do the soundtrack or am I thinking of something else?
Health did do a fair amount of music for this, just finished it on pc yesterday and theres loads of tracks on it by a few artists. I wasn't sure at first if id like this one as much as the first two but i did, i found it hard in places even on normal.
I'm quite unsure about part 3...
On the one hand, I love Max Payne games and I used to play them before...
Bit on the other hand can't call it the best game ever and can't say that the only thing I've ever waited for was Max Payne 3...Probably for utmost fans it's really so)
Bought during the Steam sale for £7.49 I was loving it until I realised that for nearly 50% of the game you're either in a cut scene to move the 'plot' forward or being forced to creep through a door. And can you say waves on enemies? Sheesh. For some reason to, a bullet to the head from a FN FAL doesn't put a man in t-shirt down - maybe I was using rubber bullets. Saddly, I'm at chapter ten and to be frank, I don't know if I want to play through the last four. In fact I don't. Uninstall time. Very pretty though.

ReplyHopefully it is as good as the last 2 games, and hopefully this isnt overshadowed by the release of D3 and forgotten about.
What was marketing at Rockstar thinking?
I think I'll run through both MP games again in preparation.
Cause it's not out for PC till June 1st.

And D3 isn't out for consoles, so the games are only competing for players who buy games for both systems, which I imagine is a pretty small number.
if i want color, theres Crysis and Far Cry.
that said, im very intrigued with multiplayer.........

If Max stays alive :)
With the exception of guards with helmets, I'm playing on normal and I've had no issues with headshots.
And yes, very, very pretty. Possibly the nicest graphical treat I've ever experienced.
