Yup, gears is a much slower, much darker game. Halo is a lot more fun

I find Halo 3 co-op is fun, but not substanitally different from playing singleplayer in terms of tactics. It feels more like two players playing alone than a two player experience. GOW co-op is great and requires a lot more of "You go over there and chuck a grenade, I'll cover the door from here with this rifle" etc.

Not on topic, but I had no idea Bungie was responsible for Oni. I still have the game, and never beat it. I had my parents get it for me on a whim since I had nothing else to play on my PS2 at the time (I got mine during the November wave of shipments).

Try saying that after you've played it on legendary with some of the skulls enabled to make things even more interesting.

I think with two skilled players though, I found GoW was like two players playing alone as well, even on Insane, apart from the reviving each other, we very rarely talked tactics or anything like that. Only when it got to the hard parts did we discuss a game plan after getting stuck. Same thing with Halo 3 though, with four good players, legendary is pretty easy, me and my mates blitzed through the campaign, but there were still challenging parts where we had to figure out tactics. I would say Halo 3 is even more of a co-op experience than GoW as well, Halo 3 often makes you work together, like in warthogs, whereas GoW likes to split the players apart. I do like both however, I enjoyed the GoW single player and I enjoyed playing co-op with my mates even more. I like Halo 3 more though, I felt the campaign felt much more epic, you didn't get to simultaneously take down two scarabs or try to escape to a ship in a convoy of warthogs in GoW. I also think the multiplayer is much better, I hate GoW's multiplayer, very rarely does using the cover mechanic work to your advantage, since most players just run in with the shotgun and circle strafe each other (exactly why GoW has the cover mechanic in the first place). That's the problem when you try and use an arcade health system with a realistic combat system.

My only gripe with Halo3 MP is because the health system is time based you need to finish someone off in one go. This means you don't get the DM tactics you get in games like Quake where you whittle someone down over time. In Halo you have to run in and spray, meele and grenade as fast as you can. It does make encounters more even but on the other hand if someone has an amazing weapon such as the energy sword and you are on a small enclosed map you are bound to lose.

Jamie, tip for you, mauler, punch, dead, sworxd got owned, it is severly week, and can sidestep it, I did'nt think much of gears and wasnt challenged by it, I only did Ram with my friend and that was it, Halo is hard on legendary, but still stays fun and well easy really is fun, plus you get armour that looks like a samurai, I got it, so freaking cool, gears you look like an ugly sod or a plank except Baird.

Yeah I find that on some maps a team can dominate if they get the power weapons, Guardian on team slayer springs to mind, it's very close quarters and if the teams gets the hammer, and stick to the right area they dominate the game and are very difficult to kill. However, some maps works brilliantly, I've only found a couple of map/gametype combinations I find unfair if the other team get to the good weapons first.
