Indeed it looks like there is a system here that i did not notice the first time around:)
anyway, looks like everything is set, everyone's best games are their own favourites, so merry christmas everyone!

We're all discussing Game of The Year before the year is up....what about Star Wars: The Old Republic!?

Surely these things should be decided after the year is up to see the bigger picture?

Oh and it's BF3 for me ;-)

1. The Witcher (was great prepatch, then it was the greatest once patched)
3. Battlefield 3
2. Hard Reset ( The most fast pace shooter fun I've had in a long while. Controls were so tight and absolutely responsive. )
4. Skyrim, while it has content in terms of questing and story. It lacks in so many other dept graphicly and engine code. They should of considered doing a seperate version for the PC, even if it met delays. Although new mods for GUI and HD textures from the comunity are slowing redeeming it.

I tried Deus and a big fan of the orignal (fond memories), but it was just painful to go through, everything felt clunky. I would of probably enjoyed it on a 360. If it wasn't collecting dust.

I will just list the 3 games I have played the most this year, even if I have stopped playing 2 of them now.

World of Tanks - (3)
Skyrim - (2)
Witcher 2 - (1)

As a result they would be my top 3.

Minor spoiler in the Deus Ex section: "a terrorist attack that sees his ex-girlfriend kidnapped"

Might want to edit that to make her fate more ambiguous.

Something is wrong here, Battlefield 3 fourth place? you joking, it is the best game ever!

No Witcher 2, WTF? At least MW3 wasn't included.

It's good to see that our tastes in games haven't changed one iota!
<br/>I own not a single one of those listed and have no intention of buying or playing a single one of them.
<br/>If I wanted good graphics and no playability then I'd buy into Blu-Ray movies. (Fat chance of that, though. Every movie release this year seems to have oozed out of a crack in the pig's trough!)
<br/>"RAGE" is my GoTY. And even then, it had to grow on me for almost a month, before it actually became playable through the updates that should've already been in the release version.
<br/>"Sell the game and THEN make it playable" is still the publishers mantra.

Funnily enough I found Rage to be a huge disappointment, and I'm the biggest id fanboy there is. The second by second gameplay was excellent, but everything else was poorly designed, poorly implemented and far, far too short.

Personally I agree with most of the list, really enjoyed Deus Ex and am really enjoying Skyrim. Plus, I cleverly got around the console port problems by playing them on a console! Ingenious! ;)

You're absolutely right, of course. A better name for this article would've been, "A Gamer's Checklist for Christmas". Even though I don't care for a single one of them!
(Just bought "Hard Reset" at 4AM today. So far, "WOW.")

Its criminal to award Skyrim GOTY.

There are far too many bugs and glitches to claim this game was properly tested before release and so to give it any kind of award is rewarding incompetence and shoddy work.

Its a huge game - there's loads to do and see but my journal is full of uncompleted and bugged quests and my inventory is loaded down with items I dont want and cannot get rid of.

Its needed modders to make this game stable with the LAA fix which Bethesda have been forced to adopt - will they have to adopt the TESVAL fix next? When will they get around to fixing the dozens of quest bugs or will that too be left to the 'community'?

Bethesda has already made a bucket full of money with this game and thats enough - don't go giving them any awards until they fix the bugs.

I am greatly surprised that The Witcher 2 hasn't placed.

Boring list of overhyped meh. This is how it should be:

5) Wakfu / Saints Row 3 / Shift 2 Unleashed / SWTOR / Minecraft / Magicka
4) Portal 2
3) DCS A-10C
2) Trine 2
1) Batman Arkham City
