yeah the demo is on steam mate, i stuck with with 2010 after 6 months of trying to get into 2011, just couldnt do it, but this years game is brill, got me captivated straight away.
Think the score is a bit poo, A lot of people on the SI-Games forums, people i now who have played the demo and my-self included think this is the best Football manager of the series by far.

The score is representative of my opinion and is by no means negative; I do specifically say that many will think this is a good update, thanks to the numerous new features. However, I personally found it an unconvincing update over last year's game. I'm no newbie to the franchise either, having put hundreds and hundreds of hours into FM 2011, FM 2010, FM 2009 and FM 2008. If the tactics hadn't been so frustrating, and the tone system been fully implemented across the whole it might have been a different story.

A review is just a personal opinion after all, and no-one can accuse Harry of not knowing the genre!
Just think what would have happened if Joe had reviewed it? Oh the horror!
I watched them play Aldershot a short time ago and they were utterly hopeless - so much so that my lad who was watching his first live game turned to me and said "Dad, can I get a Bristol City shirt for my birthday?" - a bit too loudly for my liking!!!!!

btw I'm not a Gas Head but a Spurs fan...
In my FM 2011 game, it's 2017; Bristol Rovers are top of the premier league and plans for a new 30,000 seat stadium are well underway; wonder what odds I'd get of that down the bookies!
Truly, is there anything more pathetic than attempting to create narratives out of a random list of player names via the medium of a random number generator?

Oh yes, there is - real football.
That argument could quite easily be applied with minor tweaks to most leisure activities in the world. Hence it is bunk.
I've been an active member of the SI community for a long time, in fact every couple of weeks somebody usually tracks me down on this forum to ask about my latest tactic releases (my FM07 tactic was particularly famous, making a magazine in Japan and getting more than 1.5million downloads :) )
I thought the match engine redesign in FM11 made it the best since CM01/02, it's not often that FM gets brand spanking new core. FM12 has built on the the ME and made a few welcome tweaks, the core of the game has improved.
The problem, as this review touches upon, is the clunky interface. It's a lot of little options that are hidden or hard to find, or simply not where they have been for the last 4 or 5 years...it's ruins the submersiveness of the game as you forget you a manager to swear just long enough to search for a button and swear at SI for messing up the interface.
I'm tempted to stick to FM11, but having already cracked it, it's onward to FM12.

It's very easy to be that reductionist about anything....is there anything more pathetic than pretending to kill people by clicking them with a mouse? Everything is what you make of it, if you were born without imagination or the ability to find joy in a massive social event (such as football), then that's your loss.

Clearly you should have tried my tactics ;) My FM11 one is also extremely popular :P

Such a stupid comment, as others have said that attitude could be taken towards any activity.
On the other hand, I don't have to put up with wall-to-wall coverage, universal presumption of interest, and having "any activity" thrust forcibly into my face on a daily basis, as I do with football.
Bollocks to football and bollocks to the foghorning cretins who like it, say I.

ReplyIs there a Demo somewhere?
FM 2012 demo on Steam
As long as you can make them play better than they do in reality...!

There is not enough money or liquor in the world to make that happen.

If you haven't played CM 01/02, you're a newbie!
