Looks like Rage has inherited the texture popup from Fallout 3/NV :/
Still, I'll be buying ther game once I get a digital distributor who isn't charging $90US for the damned thing, and once I have some spare cash.
I was really looking forward to this, but I wouldn't touch it with with a bargepole until all the issues have been sorted out, it's a VERY poor bug ridden PC release, probably rushed out to beat BF3, and imho, it does Bethesda no favours at all it the PC market , not that , that will bother them in the least.

oh yes!!!! waiting for this one. am a bit puzzled if i should get for ps3 or for onlive (not sure if promo is still on but if you preordered new batman on onlive, you would get free onlive console system)
Disappointed as I'd hoped for a kind of STALKER meets Fallout kind of deal, the hard-nosed shooting of the STALKER games with the RPG wanderings of Fallout. But since it's just an end to end linear shooter then frankly it can sod off. Times have changed, and I like me a sandbox.
Interesting. Some points made in this review contrast greatly with some made in the Ars review. Some even being almost the same statement, but the opposite. For example, they say the checkpoints are more often terrible than not (with one example being a death half way through a mission resulted in being returned to the save from just before the end of the last), that the shooting, while functional, is uninspired, and that one mission literally involved going somewhere to push a button, and then returning to tell them you had pushed the button.
I appreciate that any review is going to be subjective, but things like a broken save system are pretty objective points. Is it just that you never experienced any issues?

I wasn't contradicting Ars' view on the checkpoints and nor did I say they were good. In fact that entire point says that the checkpoints are redundant as a concept, because you already have quicksaves and all these other mechanics in place to stop you from ever needing to load.

Sounds like 90% of all FPS missions to be honest. Surely it's more about how many heads you pop on the way, than what you do when you get there?

That's every game for me nowadays! :D
Is there a demo to play so I can find out for myself which group I fall into?
