Yup, I would totally agree with this article. I played the beta twice and was quite excited at the prospect of playing another battlefield game, especially since bc2 has held my attention for so long. However, it was an experience I could easily forget and although the payment model is interesting I think its best to leave it in the facebook realms!

I wasn't aware you could do this in BF Heroes....IIRC you chose your class when you created your character back then....
Very interested to hear what Bit-tech's view on free to play games is generally, because you generally review Free to Play as though they were boxed products...

We don't structurally distinguish between FREE! or PAY!, no. Instead we just approach it all within one framework, with the driving question being "Is this worth your time and/or money?"
I played in the beta and it is the biggest pile of crap ever. It is being developed by idiots that are ruining BF.
Go out and buy BF2 Deluxe edition and install the mods: AIX, Point of Existence, Nations at War and PRMM instead. Far cheaper and 1,000,000 times better than this web crap.
And to think of all the times I spent with a friend, driving across maps with our vehicle tipped on its side, inching our way to nowhere in particular, laughing all the way.
Ahh, the stupid **** we used to get up to in that game.
On this, however, I would expect a "pay $2 to be able to turn left" micro-transaction every time I get into something drivable.

I agree. Maybe it's because it's the first I don't know, but it still feels like the best. No silly TV missiles etc meant play wasn't totally dominated by any one vehicle. All of those funny bugs and the great voice commands "take cover!" and an endless amount of hilarious mods like interstate and Pirates.
They took something that had nothing wrong with it....Gave it a new skin and gave it problems.
Beta was awfull and havnt played it since. Obviously its a beta I know but the principles the game is built on really didn't appeal for me. Especially when I have BFBC2.
Now tell me, what you you rather play in your precious spare time. BFP4F or BFBC2?

i am so glad this game wasn't marketed as Battlefield 2 (free), but on the other hand, i am so sad that this game has the Battlefield title.

It's functional and well-populated, at least. Plus, the level design is amazing.
