cheers for the console commands, handy to know the key ones for when i do get the game. Still not driven to buy the game straight away. 8 out of 10 sounds about right, think i'll hold out for the dx11 content (if it is even on the way) out of principal, after all, games should be released when they are finished...
I myself and several others have been having MAJOR issues with the game in not only SP but MP as well, but MP is the worst. A ludicrous bug in SP happens when you exit the game you lose 100 points of your nanosuit upgrades, sometimes to go as far as being lost completely. The MP is run through Gamespy not mycrysis.com as the game says so getting help on any issues for login will not be answered by anyone, I know because I had to use my secondary account and NO ONE at FP or mycrysis.com tried to help. The ranked servers are broken and do not start when the min amount of ppl are in 90% of them. The stat tracking doesn't work if your the leader of a group or go to certain MP modes. The audio is reverse stereo for 5.1 not true 5.1. The assault modes are broke spawning every one in the same area. Stealth is broke because you can't sneak unless you are cloaked and if you do uncloak behind cover the ai can see you 100% of the time. Trying to add a friend to my friend list took 5 attempts and you have to stay logged in as soon as you leave the game the request is dropped. The story was good don't get me wrong but the fact the game can not function correctly in MP and saying we only have 2 choices this time around either stealth or frontal assault. With stealth being broken really makes me believe this is the worst game from Crytek ever, dispite bit-techs comment about it being the best. For it to be the best you need to take a step forward and not be tied down to consoles limitations, this game does nothing to further or distinguish it self like they had done with Crysis. This game gets literally gets a 4 out of 10 for me and I am disappointed to keep seeing it do so well in the scoring because it feels like the score is about the name and not the game itself.
My pre ordered copy of the Crysis 2 Nano Pack arrived Monday. I really don't know how I have managed to come to work Tuesday and this monring.
I like it ..I like it a lot

My machine with a 5870 (plus i5 760 @4GHz) runs it perfectly at 1920x1200 at the highest (Extreme) setting. Never goes below 30FPS and usually sits up in the 40s
The first Crysis represented the benchmark of PC gaming when it released, but with Crysis 2 also on consoles, the game has been watered down so much in fact, that its resolution is lower than that of the original Crysis.
Crysis 2 Textures Are 1/2 Size of Crysis 1 Proof

Oh boy ... did Crytek think no one would notice?! lol
Did the reviewer even play Crysis/Warhead? The controls on this bag of garbage are no way better that it's predecessor. Crytek has insulted the PC Community with rubbish!
However for anyone like me who still wishes to play fro the story alone, to finish off Warheads blunt ending, this gfx tool may come to some people's use.
Never even thought to condiser this before but Crysis 2 story isn't a continuation of the original?
The story wasn't perfect but to some extent i was quite intrigued by the ending of the original and thought this might finish it off maybe?
So let me get this straiight...
No DX10/11 (not even if we wait)
Lower res textures (funny some of them are from the original and still lowered)
Buggy Multiplayer
Only checkpoints
Loss of Nano(something or other) points on quit.
EA Download Manager
Rediculously limiting graphics options (bar console commands and 3rd party)
Did I miss anything?
Back to the drawing board for you, CryTek.
However, a nice BIG patch will do.

Joe also reviewed Crysis and Crysis: Warhead as well as extensively covered all three games in various previews and first looks.
In reference to Joe's opinion on controls, it's exactly that, an opinion, and one I happen to share. There's much less grappling with the suit menu anymore, as speed/strength are streamlined into the controls, and cloak/armour are by default assigned to quick keys. Seemed much easier to me too when I played it.
And insulted the PC community? Get off your high horse. Crysis 2 is much better on PC than on console, and while it hasn't shipped with all the finery and trappings we'd have hoped, it's still a great game. DX11 is coming (probably), as are more advanced GFX settings. Yes, I'd prefer to see these settings in the game, but Crytek and EA are businesses and aren't a PC gamers graphics porn charity. After Crysis' being heavily pirated, they obviously (and correctly) felt more money was there to be made on the consoles.
I'm getting fed up of PC gamers thinking companies somehow "owe" them all these wonderful extras for free. Sure, Valve does support its game splendidly, and we should commend them for that, but the fact of the matter is that PC releases make nowhere near as much money for the publishers and developers as console releases do (Just play game dev story and see how long you can be PC dedicated). Owning a PC doesn't make us god's gift to gaming, it just means we pay less for your games, expect them to run on thousands of hardware configurations, demand ongoing free support and are far more likely to steal the game in first place. I think the fact that the game released on PC at all is a good thing.

I tend to agree with the reviewer with regards to the control system as well. People all too quickly assume that just because something has been done for the console market it must immediately mean it is a rubbish idea/change!
As a standalone shooter the score may be justified, but as a retconned sequel to Crysis 6/10 maybe, provided you squint.
Pro: Smaller streamlined combat bubbles [a la C1 without the fun sneaking through the jungle inbetween], simplified suit [less suit menu grappling, but far less fun], easier AI, multiplayer progression with some groovy maps.
Cons: Simplified suit, vertical FOV setting [really annoying to calculate without this], smaller resolution textures than C1 in many cases, no fists, no quicksave/quickload, no switching to speed mode for a fast reload, no huge open vistas, nano collection bug, multiplayer hacks galore making it unplayable, enemy AI suspect, I'm not Gunny but it took me 3hrs 36mins to first death on veteran, no advanced graphics options, no DX11 on release, no 64bit support on release, CrossfireX and SLi flickering lights bug, console tips all the fracking time [I know it's V to powerkick you $%£ I don't have the memory span of a mayfly], mouse control iffy [for me] without console commands, enourmous cutscene intro [I waited 20 mins to start the game and then it was unplayable thanks to the CrossfireX bug].
Please dear Buffy in heaven let's have a nice big PC patch soon.
I think 8/10 for this game is well out of order; unless you're a fan of (desperately boring - IMHO) HL2 / CoD / etc. similar linearly scripted games, which are very different from the Far Cry lineage, it's one to avoid.
The Download Manager is used to keep the game up to date and asks you to sign-in as soon as you turn on your computer.
You're kidding, right? If you mean what I think you mean, this is a fantastic example of a software company assuming that the only reason you own a computer is to run their software.
They really love to do everything in their power to make these things unbuyable, don't they...

ReplyI keep umming and ahhing about Crysis 2, but I might just go for it now.

Now it's benchmarks Crysis 2 review :)

Now if we can only get an official Crytek stance on the DX11 issue ...
Oh boy ... did Crytek think no one would notice?! lol
