I'm getting quite excited about our game now - there's obviously a lot to learn, and I'm determined to win. :D

There's surprisingly little to learn, but if there was one thing I would say to new players it's DOUBLE CHECK BEFORE YOU BUY ANY UPGRADES ON PLANETS THAT YOU CAN'T GET IT CHEAPER ELSEWHERE!!!!!

If I'd known that it would have saved me probably enough space doubloons to buy a couple more things, and once you click to build on a planet you cannot unclick. Unless I just couldn't find the button for it.

Guys, just another heads-up, there are still 7 free places in the bit-tech readers' game #2.

I'm currently 5 days into my first game of NP. I got the dubiously prime real-estate in the middle of the three strongest players in the game who set their attacks in motion this morning and i presently have 250+ ships heading towards me and there is nothing i can do about it.... nothing.
I reckon i'll be wiped out by the time i wake up tomorrow

lessons learned though

Just started a game with a friend and man it reminds me of how civ starts, slowly at first then it all starts to snowball!!

Looking at the map I think Alex will be the first to go. The strung out nature of his empire is going to make it easy for any of the surrounding empires to divide and conquer. Kevin and Paul are in excellent positions, assuming they can resist the urge to annihilate each other. Jamie continues to exist at Harry's discretion. That alliance has to hold for Jamie to have a chance. Any gains Jamie makes need to come from Joe or Clive as if they come from Mike he will block in Harry to his own detriment.

That's what it looks like from here anyway.

I've got to say, I'm absolutely loving this game!

I've now got two on the go myself, though they may even be my last two - so horribly, obsessively, compulsive this is. (The same reason I gave up EverCrack 2 about 5 years ago, and I never even got past the free trial for Wow).

The first game I'm in has gone frantic quite a bit quicker than I was expecting. One guy launched a full-scale, multi-fronted war on me on day two! The thing is, he's, well, not very good... (I say politely, realising he may be reading this). Starting out with equal sized empires, I'm close to decimating him within the space of a few days.

If you don't know your Sun Tzu from your Sunny D, why start a fight with someone? His tactics seem to broadly consist of painting his face blue, waving a big sword around above his head & screaming: "CHARGE!!!!!"

Oh well, it takes all sorts...
