This is god stuff. The beta was great and although I was stuck in beta with the same map for a whole month, I never got bored of it. There are always new way to discover when getting to or defending the objective.
A good squad can completly destroy a sniper campign spot pretty easily and the ability to "spot" enemy players for the benefit of your team lets them all know where the sniper is camping, and send a mortar strike there pretty swiftly to deal with them.
No mention of the sound design in this game, which far surpasses the graphics in my opinion; it's got the best sound I've heard in a computer game in a long, long time. It sounds absolutely stellar.
The game is beautiful, but the sound is truly astounding. Really the whole game is a revelation I can't remember the last time I had this much fun playing an FPS game.
However, I didn't see you mention: what dx version is this review based on? i'm asking, because for AvP (which was supposed to be a DX11 title), Bit for some reason used DX9...

Agreed. Sound is just superb. It adds a lot to the game.
Can't wait to get my key. Ehh.. Come on, why did they have to release it in EU later than in the US?
This looks really good and I'm glad to see a big-name game in 2010 being tailored so well for the PC platform.
Hopefully I can get my hands on a demo to try it out, but I think if I had the cash I'd buy it just on the strength of the reviews and trailers I've seen.
It's rare too that I could drop 40-60 quid on a game and feel like I wasn't compromising my pinciples by shelling out for some badly-ported console crap.

You can adjust the FOV from 55 to 200.
It's shame that Steam ran into problems with the preload, so none of us steam users can play it yet. I will be waiting ever so patiently.
I will agree, the sound is incredible. I love how sounds reverberate differently if you are indoors. Even shell casings hitting the ground sound different if you are in a small room, compared to the outdoors.
Left it too late to play the Beta but pre-ordered it anyway.
I was a big fan of BF2 back in the days when i used to be in a clan. Squad based action is always great when you get a few mates together and kick some ass :)
It's nice to see that in this age of "Make it for the console, let the PC guys deal with it" DICE have stayed with us....well done chaps!
i know all BF games feel like this, but this game feels like a console port, the movements feels slow, all the actions doesn't have the same crisp feel as call of duty.
in fact, the game movement feels more like recently released AvP rather than a heavy action based FPS.
sound is fantastic though, the use of Dolby digital made my experience with Asus Xonar D2X feels great.
this game is great. I'm glad they took out the prone as it was always opposite my play style. I have been playing the beta and never got bored even though it was the same map, but that could because of who i was playing with. Also as other mentioned it sounds amazing especially in 5.1.

The beta was terribly optimised, even on my SLI 260GTXs I never got more than 40fps.
I think that just about sold it for me.

wrong.
i want my 64 people sessions.
i want my jets so i can carpet-bomb the shitznitz of 20+ unsuspecting infantries.
i want my prone.
but nevertheless.... its awesome :) ill b picking one up.

did bit-tech get death threats or something
Never mention that again, or do you want one as well?? :p
Precious, my precious BFBC2

Eh? it's £25 on amazon.
It is? That's even better.
In saying 40-60 I was referring to games in general, rather than BFBC2 specifically.
Nice to see it priced so cheaply though. :)
Borderlands and Mass Effect 2 take note please, small curtsies go a long way.
