Yeah. There isn't enough of a market for it I think. They'd only make out if their sales were like COD4.

DNF, There any bets on release date yet? Lets just hope they don't switch engines again. 2009 looks promising maybe i can even upgrade my computer and keep up with every one, lots of good hardware out for gaming as well, And some one once told my pc gaming was dying still here, and loving not that my xbox 360 doesn't see plenty of action either.

as for me fear 2 in the first half of 09 and in the 2sd half call of duty and half life 2 episode 3 as for the duke antisipation is key so anytime the duke is ready so am I!!

For me, the "cursed belt buckle" in brutal legend is definitely cur-said rather that curst. Anyway, that game sounds rather awesome, shame it is a console exclusive.

What is with the release date of FEAR 2?

was that Word being helpful?

Ghostbusters could be a laugh but I agree with your comment about friends, it can be difficult finding enough people who all have the game and want to play it at the same time.

DoW doesn't seems to have any more playable races that any of the previous ones - if you can only play the ones you have listed then that is actually a reduction. If they are in addition - I can see how the Blood Ravens could be a bit different, though only better, than normal Space Marines for example - then that is a good thing. Though I am not sure quite how that would work. I like the sound of the more relevant secondary missions.

Batman has potential but sounds a bit silly - why just chuck all his enemies into a massive building when you could put them in individual cells? Didn't think of that one did you.

Like the look of the Duke Nukem picture, especially the one in the middle :D though the lack of, and need for, anti aliasing is obvious

ps the picture links on the third page don't have the .jpg at the end.
pps sorry that this was so long

Wouldn't expect SC2 or D3 'til at least 2010, and I would think 2011 is probably more likely.

Dragon Age is one I'm looking forward to. Knowing bioware the world and the story are gonna be simply amazing. Project Offset seems pretty interesting. I hope they can pull off the stuff they showed in the trailer. But damn! F.E.A.R. 2 is gonna have me shitting my pants again... I can't wait!
Quote Vadoff 7th January 2009, 16:11
Starcraft 2 should've definitely been included on the list.
Not Diablo 3 though, since that's most likely a 2010 release.

What about the new Aliens game? Colonial Marines?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliens_(Gearbox_Software)

Release: 2009

Seeing as how AvP2 died off recently, and it was a huge hit back when it was released, there's a lot of excitement over it (well, for us Aliens fans :p)

Halo Wars is more anticipated than Halo 3: ODST.... Personally

Two games I wrote about all those years ago now are still in there: Project Offset and Duke Nukem. I predict a February 09 release for both games.
Quote serial_ 7th January 2009, 17:25
Project Offset looks like a scene torn right out of the extended edition of Return of the King.

....

.....

I need to be alone for a little while... *ahem*fap*ahem*

For crying out loud. Where's the Duke? How do you sit on your hands and not release a sure-thing like DN?
I agree with UrbanMarine. They should do a new Shadow Warrior too! -The only game I've ever been fragged in by someone standing on my head.

Oooh, yeah. Alan Wake is the one to watch for my money, even if it WILL be 2010! BF3 would be sweet too.

I highly doubt Elite 4 will hit before Frontier finish The Outsider, which still doesn't have a date yet.

Nothing about God of War 3? I'm more excited for that game than I am for every other PS3 game combined; the prospect of watching Kratos tear his way through the entire Greek Pantheon in glorious 1080p is probably what's going to drive me to HD if I haven't already by that point.

ODST promises to be something new for the arguably tired and over-hyped franchise and we have to admit that the game has got us excited despite our leathery coat of cynicism.

Just thought I would question that. Not to be picky and I hope you dont take offence, but I would hardly call Halo tired or overhyped for that matter?

Halo 3 is the 3rd game in the series, there are game franchises out there that I think are really more deserving of the tired/overhyped tag *cough* Need for speed, mortal combat, street fighter, Sonic, fifa etc etc the list could go on forever*

Overhyped? Well perhaps slightly but in all honesty - and im not even a major FPS fan (apart from Gears of war but thats not even a FPS game really, more tactical) the halo games have all been exceptionally good and really show how to make a solid game.

Halo 3 is awesome, so much depth, great gameplay and online multiplayer is still constantly the most played on xbox live against other games.

I think if it was truely bad from the first to third and now fourth installment, I would label it as you have - but honestly its not like that, is it?

A FPS without a mouse? :O

/me runs in horror
Quote crompers 7th January 2009, 22:21
a few titles there convince me it was worth buying a ps3:

heavy rain
resi 5
brutal legend
street fighter 4 being another one

as far as pc titles are concerned i cant wait for:

diablo 3 (cant really see why it didnt get a mention tbh)
fear2
dragon age

looks like an ok year, nothing particularly ground breaking

seems to me that halo is probably the game most deserving of being branded tired and overhyped. apart from the fact that it is an FPS on a console (which is never going to work properly imo) it feels more like a day out at disney land to me than a sci-fi FPS.

i have always thought that titles like gears of war, resi 4 and more recently dead space work because the developers found a good way to work around the inherant control problems with 3d console shooters
Quote tank_rider 8th January 2009, 00:15
hmmm, nothing really inspiring on there. No decent racing games, or fps like HL2 or BF2 that I'm really looking forward to :(

You have Ghostbusters in the co-op, but I'm sure that I read somewhere that there was no co-op?

I have been waiting a long time for DoW2 and Project Origin.

Are you sure it's called "F.E.A.R2: Project Origin" I thought both designers had a falling out. After a court battle one got the naming rites of "F.E.A.R" and the other got the game hence the lack of "F.E.A.R" marketing on the Project Origin web site.
