I really liked the first one. I have 1&2 sitting next to me ATM, just can't get em to work on Vista 64 :(. Oh well, I am doing up an XP based system to play older games ;).
Does the game really look as cartooney/WoWesque as those pics? or are they just designer art? If it really does look like that I am very disappointed.
It's semi-cell shaded right? I imagine if done correctly it would look really good. Often not quite managing photo-realism is a poor substitute to deliberate none photo-realism.
I have to admit that im a huge fan of the graphical style,I personally dont think it looks cartoony at all theres more detail than that. Zelda Windwaker was cartoony! i get tired of seeing games trying to achieve photo realistic graphics, its nice to see some people trying something different.
I am a fan of the graphics as well. Used to love XIII, not only for the graphics though. And being a fan of the last 3 games, 2+3 especially, I have to say I can't wait for this one.
Any recommendations on which platform I should get it? Any thisplatformonly content planned/announced?
//edit: Just a quick question for the BT staff: You don't happen to need any help, do you? I just arrived in England and still looking for a job. Working for/with you would definitely be my first choice. :)
And yes, I do know you must get a couple requests like this one every day but I thought it won't hurt to ask.
So dam many new games. I'm broke!!!! I spent the VGA money on games and I still didn't buy NFS UnderCover, this game , GTA IV, Call of Duty 5, Saints Row 2, Burnout Paradise, Left 4 Dead, Tomb Raider Underworld and Mirrors Edge !!!! This sucks!
Those screenshots are gorgeous, I love the graphical style.
It's a great sign of the times in my opinion - We've reached such a point in graphical capability in our gaming platforms that developers can now pursue visual styles that look 'different' and appealing without pursuing the holy grail of realism that has been the focus of graphics in games since the start of the polygon era.
The fact that this is coming out on PC too is great news, I really like how this is shaping up.
I never said the graphics style was bad, just doesn't suit this game. I actually like the style quite a lot, very effective. I just think that if they wanted to introduce it into the series they should have done it a lot earlier in the series.

But it isn't part of the series, the only part that remains the same is a portion of the title, and some acrobatic skills.
I personally can't wait for this, and really like the art style. It's quite high on my to buy list, already pre ordered left4dead, but I'm tossing up between this and fallout 3. Arg, tough decisions :D
I think the art is awesome, when I play a game I want it to transport me to a totally fantastically universe that's completely different to my current surroundings. That's why I love animation so much n I think cell shading in this game will do just that. Not a fan of platform games but I just might pick this one up after I finish with Mass Effect, FC2 , RA3, L4D ... arrg too many games I need to clone myself...

You mean using it for making characters stick out from background like nail in plank you're stepping on.
If cartoonish look is what you like didn't Far Cry have such mode?
(which used shaders for different rendering result)
If you recall the "sands of time" the game was kinda cartoony. Even the "tell" of the history was cartoon-like.
The more agressive tell came with "the warrior within" and "the two thrones".
This cell shading approach is fantastic! I can't wait untill it's out.
