i'll handle the DRM issue, i dont mind 3rd person, and i always think of odd controls as challenging instead of annoying....

It may sound a lot to throw at players,
in terms of level design, i'd rather see more diversity than play a game like FEAR again.

Oh look, another generic office...

I waited for a PC review to help me decide if I want this on PC (preference) or xbox.
Thanks for the review - based on DRM, controls, load times I think xbox is the winner for this title.

As a side note - The various reviews I read compares this game often to Resident Evil, but am I the only one that think of Doom 3 when looking at the screen shots and reading the story line?

Sounds like an interesting game, always good to see some new ideas, just a shame when a great game falls down on some few but significant flaws, in this case the controls.

I can see the benefit for the companies using DRM but in theory some of these programs can see all that is installed on the computer, and report this. am i the only one who can see a major problem in this? allowing a program this kind of acess, where does the acess stop? is the program able to see specific information?

there are plenty of vira out there made to report what you are doing on your pc why don't you just download one of those?

An interesting review, but one question: Given all the awesome games coming out in the next few months, if you were stuck with a keyboard and mouse, would you buy it? :D
CardJoe 21st October 2008, 18:56 Quote
Personally, I'd not play anything except Far Cry 2 and Left4Dead. They'll keep me going.

Any idea when the demo will be out? Or has someone said already and I missed it?

Game does look very interesting. Always a fan of the survival-horror genre.

Once you get a bit into the review its apparent its a review of the pc version of the game but is there anywhere else that it explicitly states its a review of the PC version before you get too far into the review? It would be nice right at the beginning, especially with porting causing so many issues on many games now or days. Granted I know console reviews are the exception here at bit-tech, and rightfully so with the focus on PC's.

I just can't help but wonder what the game would have gotten for a score if it was either played on a console, or even had the remote used for it. I've got a PC far more capable than my 360, but lately with so much going on I'd rather sit on the couch to play games than be huddled in front of the 22"er on the PC at a desk after a long day of doing that anyway.

So any hint at what the score could be like if it were the same overall experience sans the control issue?

It says at the very top of the review. Every review. It shows you what platforms the game is out on, with the platform it is reviewed on being italicised.

If it was on a console? Dunno, because I didn't play it on a console. I'd like to say +1 to the review, but that would be speculation mainly.

Ya, I just remembered as I just went back and checked the tab portion. Came back just now to edit what I could and you already beat me to it. You are mighty quick with responses =).

I figured it would be speculation, as you couldn't do anything else. Either way the game does look very interesting. Thank you very much for a quick response, and Thank you for what you guys do here with everything. I always look forward to reading the articles and checking out mod progress. First thing I do every day when I have free time. =)

I remember that this had a really cool trailer. Seemed like a Star Trek episode.

This looks like a good buy for me, will need a 360 controller for the pc.

Oh look, another potentially excellent game wrecked by a nasty case of consoleitis.

There was a time when I was ambivalent about consoles...
rtrski 22nd October 2008, 14:50 Quote
Could you clarify the "controls are sticky" part? Is it just a matter of not enough responsiveness/sensitivity to mouse movement? If so, perhaps that could be patched rather quickly. Most games seem to have a mouse sensitivity slider these days, but if they just defaulted to a certain value mapped to the range-of-travel of the controller's thumbstick, and missed, then as the reviews come back one would hope they could tweak it.

Any comment about the duration of gameplay and replayability? As a single-player storyline only, those are key factors in the gaming value determination. No matter how enjoyable it is, I wouldn't pay full price for a 6 hr game. (Not that shorter games can't be enjoyable, a la Portal, just not at $50ish.....)
