i think that's the end of modifying the creature. you can only add/change what they wear from there on.

Game wise, I'm having fun with it, but I'm getting the feeling they've got this brilliant concept and really quite ingenious selection of progressive, user-desgined systems, and struggled to wrap it in particularly deep gameplay. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying it, but it's definitely casual aimed and there's the worry that after a month or so I won't pick it up again. But for £29.99, it aint half bad.
Yep, gameplay isn't particularly deep but I'm having incredible fun with it. :)
****ing unbelievable, spent the last 3 hours playing, but the silly ****ing game has to be saved manually, and it crashed, amazing. Now the game won't run for 3 seconds, seems Task Manager unlocks it for a few seconds but that's it. Back to cell stage, great...

True, I will admit, as much as people decry the simple gameplay, it's a bloody time eater I tell you! You can spend HOURS on it and not even notice.

Apart from that, very fun game.
when you say crash, what happened?
i keep getting flickering screen after a while, and i have to ALT-TAB out, and restart the game. the time for it to start flicker depends on whether i've got Folding GPU2 running or not. im guessing it's a nVidia driver issue?

Black screen, so I had to end it via task manager.
All drivers work with most cards, you just have to update the INF file as Nvidia block the drivers for their own cards, how silly. Been using some crappy driver on this Vaio for a long time, I should have access to the modified driver on Sony's website. Many people are having the jamming problem with the GO cards on laptops, EA should send them to that website.
Anyway, it's driver 177.92, it's the "best" one apparently, works here flawlessly, I will even run Crysis to see how it performs again.

I'm just wondering what is in the "Exclusive 100-page Galactic Handbook" that comes with it.
I rate Spore about a 4/10. So far I have not been impressed with anything I've seen in the gameplay, presentation, graphics and sound. This is a repetitive time waster game, and an expensive one at that. Needless to say that this is the last game that I will be purchasing from Maxis & EA. Very unimpressed.
Pros: You can customize the decals, from your creatures to their dwellings and vehicles. Cute, fun & cool.
Cons: The game play in ALL stages is limited, repetitive, unoriginal and boring.
The world graphics look extremely dated and ugly.
I would advise to pick this game up cheap 2nd hand, but EA have limited each copy to 3 installs via DRM, thus destroying the 2nd hand market for this title. Your best bet would be to play Spore at a mates place for a couple of hours. Spore is definitely one of the most disappointing games I've ever played in my gaming history of over 2 decades.

My god, galactic age is a time eater.

Installed a modified driver for the GPU I have and the game now runs perfectly, just creating a city atm and so far loving the game.
Seriously, don't see what all the fuss is about, just enjoy it.
It's from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/

Its just a little hardbacked book with loads of the development artist sketches and storyboards for each of the stages in.
To be honest, its probably better than the game.
