Joe, good stuff but a few glaring grammar errors and bold type where not neccessary.

And yeh, I know I spelled necessary wrong in that last post.

Always a fan of Anti-DRMers one of the reasons I bought the game and a few others from stardock.

I like that Imperium Galactica got a mention. I loved those games and it irked me when Sins got the credit for inventing the 4XRTS, good to know that the devs appreciate gaming history :D

Heh, I forgot about sins but it might just work on this crappy laptop I now have... :)

Uh oh. Now I have to dig Imperium Galactica out of the closet and try and figure out a way to get it to run on my Vista machine. This is going to be tough.

Are they still selling DOS 5.0?

@MrMonroe DosBox is your friend.

SoaSE is really an incredible game made by people who obviously know what it takes to create great games. I have a sneaking suspicion that Stardock and Iron Clad will be involved in even more amazing projects in the future (that hopefully will get more hype than terrible games - I'm looking at you, Haze). I feel bad for anyone in Europe who had to wait this long to get their hands on it. It's so good!

First I pirated the game, I played it quite a bit, then I bought it and haven't played it since. This article is making me bust it out again. I have to redownload it.

Or in the rare case that DosBox isn't good - Microsoft's free Virtual PC software :) It takes a bit more setup, but it works very well so far as I've experienced.

This interview made me download the demo but my PC keeps crashing when I try to run it. Bah :(

It's not exactly ancient either - 1.86Ghz C2D, 2gb ram, 7800GT...
Veles 7th June 2008, 01:58 Quote
That would be plenty to run it

also chiming in and saying I first Pirated it with my roomate, then we both bought the game after finding out it had no DRM crap on it. Played a few games with him on lan, and now that im not living with him anymore havent touched it (hell my computer still isn't hooked up in my new place yet!)

I actually know quite a few people who pirated first, bought later because of its awesome quality.... keep up the good work!

Personally, I don't really bother to pirate computer games, I always feel that computer game developers get way too little from their games, and that by pirating them you are taking a significant chunk from their pockets. Now TV shows and movies are a different story, considering a lot of the CRAP that has been out on the big screen as of late (aside from Iron Man) TV shows too, the companies get so much cash money from ads, and Now i usually just watch TV shows via hulu. I can deal with 2 minutes of ads total per ~22 minutes of show.

Hulu is the future!

Imperium Galactica was a great game, bought the sequel only the other day.

In fact it went even further than Sins and let you zoom right down to planet surface level as well as designing your own ships, so still yet to be beaten... *hint for expansion pack* ;)
johnmustrule 9th June 2008, 07:19 Quote
hmmm... was pirating a problem when games still cost less than $30? Nope, I hate how EA says they need DRM when it takes any comp novice a google.com visit to break it, in the meantime the add another 10$ to the price tag! If they would just drop the price pirating would go down and they'd make alot more money. Sins of ect. can kiss my lower parts if they expect me to pay $49 for a game and call it reasonable just because it doesn't have DRM, it's not entirely DRM free anyways so the point is moot.
CardJoe 9th June 2008, 08:45 Quote
Pirating was very much a problem back then. I remember the old Amiga games - they used to be quite cheap and often had no protection at all. I had hundreds of games for my old Amiga, but I only ever actually paid for one of them.

I'd be happy to buy original games if they are available at a reasonable price here. I have been doing so for first party GameCube and N64 titles(and you can guess how few I have). Paying RM200+ for a game while earning only RM2400, is crazy.

Games and books, I try not to get pirated ones. They don't earn much, and I feel they deserve the money for their work more than movie stars and producers who already filthy rich.
ZMan 14th July 2008, 23:47 Quote
i know this is off topic but what about a halo mod for sins? i have the demo (becuse im dirt poor) so i cant mod
:D
