i completed this game in under 4 hours but i have to say as easy as it was it still made you feel like you accomplished something. i played it before EP2 to keep my mind of the fact that i lost the keys to my new car, and i must say it did tis job well and cheered me up..... especially the end of it. i will be laughing at that one for weeks. probably replay the game a few times just to get to the credits again (i know i dont have to.

Loved portal. Everything is so great about it. The game, the mechanics, the "plot", the humor, the turrets ("I don't blame you")...

Excellent !

That is so win. xD I've got that song on repeat now ^_^

This game was so much fun. I wasn't expecting much, especially seeing as the first 10 challenges were really easy and a lot of people have been whining about it being short, but it picked up and was great.

Don't forget that there are all the harder challenges and will be loads of community built challenges too :D

HAHA, this was an awsome game, certainly look forward to comunity modded maps/levels, I notice on youtube there is some flaver of the game ExitE? which provides some form of multiplayer which looks interesting :D
CardJoe 15th October 2007, 09:58 Quote
ExitE is a bit buggy, but worth fiddling with if you're REALLY into Portal. Personally, I'd download Garry's Mod and grab a copy of the Portal SWEP and take that online instead. Garry's Mod is so made of win.

I just got an e-mail asking about the radio music, so...
Using GCFscape you need: portal content.gcf - \sounds\ambient\music\looping_radio_mix.wav

enjoy

i was quite impressed with this game as at least it has some kind or originailty unlike games such as cod,cod2, cod3, medal of honor, brothers in arms etc etc

it took me a few goes to figure out was going on though
DarkReaper 18th October 2007, 01:22 Quote
You can download both the radio jazz and the end credits song from Myspace, of all places...

Awesome game. I wonder if Garry of Garry's mod is going to port over the Portal Gun?
CardJoe 18th October 2007, 14:29 Quote
Sigh. I've said this several times, but there is a legal issue with porting it for profit although there exist several fan made SWEPs which have been out since the games first trailer.

I don't see why you can't have the portal gun in Garry's if you own Portal, they both valve IPs now at least so I don't really see the problem.

Has to be said, this is the best game I have played this year. But if they made it any longer I might have done some serious damage to my ribs.

I'd love to see a 1v1 Portal Deathmatch mod. :D

As far as I'm aware, gary's mod still isn't valves IP

he just distributes it through steam, that doesn't make it valves

Also, all though im not sure, garys mod is probably using the SDK version of source, so it will not have any of the fixes that make portal possible (well in the Portal sense, there is one by stridermod that _works_)

I got my Xbox 360 version of Orange Box today and I have not laughed so much playing a single player game. THe jokes and dialogue in portal are great and really is a shame its so short. I definatly think this game is worth its own box and could have sold seperatly if it was much longer.

One of the best games this year!!!
fathazza 18th October 2007, 22:43 Quote
quite an enjoyable game but way to short and way too easy....

even the "advanced maps" are easy enough to do after a quick glance and the map

Valve took 50% of GMod ownership in return for letting him unlimited access to the Source Engine code and SDK as it is developed. They both own equal amounts.

I got Portal last week and feel I have to weigh in here... just because I have enjoyed this game so, so much more than any other game for a long time :)

The game is fun, and quite difficult to work things out at points. The advanced levels more than make up for the quantity of levels with hours and hours of entertainment. The humour in it is just excellent too, absolutely hilarious at points. The auto saving means you dont get stressed doing lame bits over and over again. Achievements means it will last for a long time.

I havent had such a good all round gaming experience since warcraft 3 came out - whats more, this game costs £12 with a load of other games. Win.
