Because you'd get loads of people complaining about the absence of 'Giant Haystacks'

Fear not though, his silence today isn't because he literally stopped breathing, it's because he's out of the office today playing a few more cool games... he'll be reporting on those soon. ;)

Back! FYI: Haze looks even better when its a world exclusive....

In regards to the widescreen issue, I honestly couldn't care. Widescreen players are naturally going to be more hardcore gamers in my mind, so giving them the chance to see a little more of the playing field (from what I've ready here that seems to be right) is the best choice. I've played the game on multiple systems, consoles, stages of development and monitors and I've never noticed a problem with the view.

This reminds me of the FOV issue in HL2, where people would whine about getting motion sick because of the restrictions when in the vehicles. What they didn't know though when they were whinging was that the FOV was actually expanded in vehicles and normally restricted on foot, so the complaints made no sense.

Normal gamers won't have a problem with BioShock in this area. Hardcore gamers who can focus on the game will either not notice unless its pointed out (like me) or they will get over it. Some people are obviously whining about it, but I reckon those are the people who enjoy finding something to whinge about in the game.

BioShock is awesome. Stop moaning and buy it.

Joe: Just spoken to Jamie on MSN about this, but can you confirm if there is a re-install limit on PC?

A commenter on Kotaku mentioned it http://kotaku.com/gaming/sad-panda/levines-replies-to-bioshock-widescreen-cropping-292071.php#c2193714

Nowhere disclosed was the fact that with the PC version, you get 2 installs of the game, and that's it. If you change your hardware, you are screwed. If you decide to go buy a kickass laptop, screwed. If you reformat and reinstall windows quite often...you guessed it, Screwed.
Veles 22nd August 2007, 11:42 Quote
If that's true that is incredibly lame
steveo_mcg 22nd August 2007, 11:42 Quote
Thats worrying, where ms leads eh.

I thought it was using steam for verification, does that not leave the limited installs rather redundant?

Actually it's the other way around. Most games add extra view on either side for a widescreen, but bioshock keeps the same horizontal view for both wide and standard, and adds height to the standard view.

Hardly a major problem but some people do whine.

just had a read over here, doesn't look good folks. If this is the case i'll not bother buying it, wasn't entirely convinced by the demo but i think this may have swung it.

Yeah like that's gonna be something that wouldn't be fixed by some piratey hackers anyways. I wouldn't worry about something like that.

2nd page of the thread you linked to says people are installing it on two pcs
Then someone else says otherwise.

Securom should curl up and Die. It's made by Sony
steveo_mcg 22nd August 2007, 12:17 Quote
No but here's the rub, if you buy it and pirate it what's the point in buying it. All it does is send the message that the consumer is willing to put up with this ****, no amount of crying on forums will make any difference, the only thing that publishers care about is the bottom line. I won't buy this either physical or on steam until its patched.

Doug: then it dies on the third install

Just edited Steve :p

Seriously though, I'm glad I have my 360 and I will get the game. But this is becoming a complete debacle for PC users. Even though someone I just spoke to actually stole the game from a store in the US (off the shelf) which pisses me off

Posting too close to each other here :D

Even though it's cropped on the WS settings, I still think it looks more enjoyable in that AR than 4:3.

I would have thought that you buy a WS screen for the AR, not because the extra field of vision that you get most of the time.

I only have a 17" 4:3 monitor, so it's a bit small to go WS for me, even if I could.

from looking at the 2k forums it seems that the problem with only 2 activations is real.....

time for me to join the dark side.

and, i really hope someone sues the **** out of them for it.

The Darkness came today though so that can tide me over.

the game is awesome! i am lovin it :D

tried it in widescreen and in normal, and honestly you can barely notice the difference gameplay-wise.

Whats this about only 2 activations? I'm gonna have to actually read the EULA and see if that's in there :( I hate legalese
DougEdey 22nd August 2007, 14:46 Quote
It's actually Sony that will enforce the activation limit

Securerom seem to be passing the buck on to 2K.
naokaji 22nd August 2007, 14:58 Quote
there are rumors now on the 2k forum about the game being delayed in europe to the 31...
could it be that they realized that they wont get away in europe with the 2x only activiation limit? (read emergency patch to remove that limit)?

Read on the gamespot review that their 360 version started to develop jitters of between 1 and 5 secs after they played the game for several hours, but no other review I've read mentions it anyone else seen this actually happen?
