Wow, looks like the boys done good, then. Good review, btw. Making no mention at all of Half Life 2 is surprising :)

I might have to buy this.

I think about buying it too. And I'll be happy running it at 16x12 max details and stuff but I don't think it looks that great. Judging from the MP beta. Has graphics improved since that beta? Like in 1-2 months? Don't think so. I think it looks good but it's too dark and too much grey and brown.

Anyways... I'll get it as I'm kind of a FPS junkie. :)

I played it at the beginning where you must rescue nimble...and i wasnt too impressed. Apologies but it felt very outdated. I agree that the storyline was very very weak, it didnt create any emotion, any attatchment to what was happening.
It felt like just another shooter...i dont know what the big deal about this game was but i didnt see anything that set it apart.

I think maybe im expecting too much, i dont mean to be controversial for the sake of arguing or anything (as im not) but i do think this game is overhyped way too much.
Its attempting to be a combination of Fear and half-life without copying either of the twos best qualitys.
Just another generic shooter to me.

Just my 2cents, apologies if i come across offensive to any diehard fans, i dont mean to be at all.

you played the first intro mission and you feel qualified to say the storyline is weak?
riggs 19th March 2007, 12:13 Quote
Ooh, sounds like it'll run ok on my lappy then (C2D 2.1Ghz, 2GB, 7900GTX 512) - wootage!

Nice review btw, but I've got to say, I do miss the performance graphs you used to create. They were a really simple and quick way to see FPS across various systems...
Cthippo 19th March 2007, 12:15 Quote
Yeah, this is definatly on my list. How is it being distributed? Steam perhaps?

Well it felt that way. Im not saying i qualify for anything more than my opinion. Either a game grabs your attention at the start or it doesnt and bores you - This bored me =/

I've read a (perhaps unsubstantiated) rumour that this game has StarForce. If it does, I won't be buying it. Can anyone clear this up? Cheers. :D
modsquad 19th March 2007, 14:45 Quote
nice review. I have also pre-ordered a copy..
looking forward to this game..
_DTM2000_ 19th March 2007, 14:47 Quote
Looks good to me, just placed a pre-order.

Hope it doesn't have StarForce, it's caused me loads of problems in the past.

It's SecuROM all over.

Tim, do you have any pictures of this game @ 2560x1600?
Paradigm Shifter 19th March 2007, 17:16 Quote
OK. That's good to know. :D Thanks. :D

Looks nice but first thing I noticed was a mistake in this pic The SA80 skin is wrong, but that's me being picky (cocking handle is on the wrong side :p ).
dom_ 19th March 2007, 18:03 Quote
Doesnt even look like the right cocking handle. Good enough for a game though.
oddball walking 19th March 2007, 18:17 Quote
Its the old A1 not the newer A2 (it is shaped like a flick).
casey_cole 19th March 2007, 19:19 Quote
Looks good...pity it's another game where all there weapons are the wrong way round...

Ejection ports are on the right hand side of guns for a reason - want a faceful of hot casings?

Looks like STALKER will give a high-end PC with a single 8800GTX a pretty darn good workout at max settings. Custom PC mag have such a system chucking out 36 min to 55 average FPS at 1920x1200 with I assume 4x AA and no AF. No mention here though of how AF effects the FPS or is the mooted 35 FPS average including high AA and AF settings? And at what resoultion and with which card?
crayfish 19th March 2007, 19:47 Quote
Maybe it's a left handed gun being held in the wrong hand.
