I dout that was done on current DX 9 cards it was probally all prerenderd crap. Dont get me wrong Those were some amazing graphics.

Well indeed it dosen't seem to be a DX9. In any case it isn't bad design, who knows, maybe they have a beta version of DX10 :) :) . The design of the head is awesome. The selfshadowing is also nice. Even if the head is not captured from the game itself I hope the soldiers and the rest of the pics are.

I'm definitley going to have to upgrade, my present rig struggles with Farcry at anything bigger than 1024x768 with everything on medium so no hope for playing that, hell it struggles with F.E.A.R. at any settings, ah well looks like i'd better start writing a shopping list socket 939 opteron for starters methinks.

What is so progressive with DirectX10? (What does it have that DX9c doesn't).

and what is it about dx10 that means those shots couldn't be done on dx9?
Nothing, zip, nada.
DX10 will bring a fair enhancement to games but mainly it's fundamentally faster and can do true surface defomations (and gpus can create new ploys under it - cool)

I remember when I say Far Cry running for the first time - I was blown away as before I thought that cannot be real and it was. I suspect Crisys is too, but expect a q2/3 release next year.

Might be just me, but does anyone else think the skin in this image looks a tab bit too glossy? http://www.bit-tech.net/content_images/crysis_new_screenshots/crysis10_large.jpg

It's very detailed going from the level of detail we get in current games, but creating digital skin is very hard indeed.
Quote yahooadam 28th April 2006, 08:46
for any current skin renders its still very very good

thats definetly the best, and most realistic ive ever seen

Apparently, the current screenshots are all done with current hardware, so unless they get MORE eyecandy, all DX10 and next gen cards will do is make it run more efficient and faster.

I sure hope Crysis will be ran off an efficient engine like Source.

Is that man in second page 3D modelled, or is it a photo?
Quote benjamin_ 5th December 2006, 00:57
lets clear some things up....
The images you all saw were rendered in DX9, not DX10. "Everything you've seen has been running on DX9 and normal hardware you can get in the shops right now. " Please read the article before posting.

"However, with DX10 and a dual core CPU, you're going to see something very special indeed. "

And although DX10 isn't astoundingly better than DX9, you should expect lots of little things suchs as particles, shading, lighting, etc....
