World Detail at 151% and World Detail at 200%

The detail that the engine renders for the general game world can be adjusted to suit your system specs, from 50% through to 200%. However, there is not much point in dropping the world detail below 50%. Increasing the world detail increases the draw distance and detail shown close up. If you look at the right of the screen shots, you will see progressively more detail around the shanty hut.

At 200%, you'll see a pretty hefty frame rate hit, but in general we think that the performance hit is worth it for the additional image quality that you're served with. Take a look for yourself at the difference between 100% and 200% World Detail - it's very subtle, but really noticeable when in-game.

Bloom & Depth of Field

Heavy Bloom at 100% and 151%

Again, this is a feature that gives you a fairly hefty performance hit, but doesn't really make a huge difference. We would have liked to have seen a full implementation of HDR in the game, but I suppose we can't have everything. You can see bloom better when you're actually playing the game than through screenshots, because you can get more of an idea as to how the light plays on the world.

We'd recommend you leave bloom on, but save yourself the performance impact of heavy bloom by just going for regular if your video card isn't from the GeForce 7 or X1000 series'. Having said that, the increase to 151% really isn't worth it and we'd recommend improving the world detail over the bloom.
