what system was it being tested on? what about an apu based one? does CF / SLI or hybrid work?

Is there any chance you could rewrite this without the excruiciating OFAH theme? I'm genuinely interested in the preview, but I'm having trouble getting more than a paragraph or two through before it annoys me too much to bother continuing. I don't think it's a solid enough joke for an article of this length given how much it disrupts the reading - a couple of paragraphs as a setup would have been more than sufficient. (Obviously, this is merely my opinion and others may well not share it, the author included!)

Agreed, I would have read it myself if the langauge didn't annoy me so much!

Sorry it wasn't to your taste. This won't be the last you'll be hearing about Elite though, I assure you of that!

+1

I had the same issue when reading the Transistor Review. Would much prefer having the option of a Funny review & a normal one, rather than just the funny one that gets flogged to death by page 2.

Jeez guys...give the man a break. If you don't wanna read it, don't read it.

Personally, I really enjoyed it. If you want to read a vanilla review, I'm sure there's plenty of other sites out there doing just that.

No need to crush a guy's creativity or ask that the poor bloke writes the damn thing twice...once for those with a bit of patience and a sense of humour, and once for everyone else :/

Great writeup. I actually liked the style.

I've just purchased a new joystick to play the Star Citizen DFM with and as Elite Dangerous will be released way before Star Citizen I'm probably getting my hands on it.

The only issue I have with the vast universe in ED is, that the procedurally genrated starsystems may feel repetitive, but we'll see.

I love the alternative styles of Rick's articles on here. Some of them might land a little wide of the mark for some readers, but as XXAOSICXX states above you can read a standard preview on maybe 100 other sites.

Keep it up fella, it nice to have something to differentiate the site from some of its rivals.

and my dad has got a joystick itching for this game - ofc I personally would like to know about frame rates with an APU for him ofc ;)

Mange tout, Rick my son - mange tout.

Epic, this game looks absolutely epic. Nice review, also quite nice having a different kind of 'tale' as it were.

Soo many Space Operas to look forward to, I like the little touches like planets gravity affecting engine power (and can you really divert more power to modules or was that the prose?)

Indeed, I probably should have mentioned I really enjoyed some of the other alternative reviews he's done, it was just his one that I didn't feel quite worked!
Shirty 27th June 2014, 14:54 Quote
Just read it as Del Boy and it's simple, or Uncle Albert if it's easier. Attempting to read it out of character is likely to cause a bluescreen of the mind.

Yeah, Rick, why aren't you following the herd like a good little sheep?

Rick's articles make the site that little bit different and refreshing.

Am I the only one who thinks the name of this game is a bit rubbish. It just makes me think of Rick Dangerous.

No. I agree. Though Rick Dangerous definitely wasn't rubbish :) I've been hoping for a remake for years! :p

Stopped reading after a couple of paragraphs. Lousy style. Shame, as I fancied learning more about this game.

Just my opinion of course.

Hard to read, probably especially so for non native speakers.

Anyway: are FF joystics supported?

Does sound exactly like any other spacesim though...starlancer/freelancer comes to mind, but I liked those, and apart from EVE there's been no such thing for a long time.
Nexxo 29th June 2014, 11:09 Quote
Son, any other spacesim sounds exactly like ELITE. It was here first.
