Never liked the first one that much although some of the ideas in there were great, but the changes sound pretty awesome now. Something I'll probably keep and eye out for now!
I recently replayed Prey in preperation for the new game. Gotta say I enjoyed it just as much as the first time I played the game. It's not perfect, but then what is? Some brilliant levels and the story aint bad. Better than the tripe they seem to think constitutes a FPS story these days.
I never did finish the first Prey, but with such a departure from the original, it would seem odd that they would keep the Prey name. Still, from what I've read, I'm glad they changed a lot. Besides, Valve kinda has that Portal thing covered now, I wouldn't advise going head to head with them.

In all fairness, the portals in Prey were far more about physically changing the structure of a level than a method of traveling around a fixed room- the two exits to a Prey portal were never close to each other, for instance.
This looks interesting: given that Prey didn't set the charts on fire when it was released, I can only presume they're making a sequal instead of a new game because the devs genuinely believe the plot from the first game will improve the second, as opposed to just cashing in on the first's success.
This sounds really promising. I really enjoyed Prey 1. Sure the death/respawn mechanic was a bit silly, but I loved the level design. Also loving the Blade Runner theme going on in Prey 2.

Except for the point where you could watch yourself walk round in circles through 2 portals, and the bit where a portal would shrink you down into a box before that alien came to examine you, and the bit you go to enter your bar sideways from the roof etc....
Augh!
I had completely forgotten about the vagina doors of Prey 1... I did enjoy the game though, and now I'm really looking forward to this one. Sounds very interesting indeed.
We're working hard to create a really great game. There are a lot of elements that really work together to make a fantastic game: bounty hunting, open world, chasing and free running, great film noir type feel. Prey 2 will expand upon the Prey universe and tell the story from a different aspect than the story told in Prey 1.
Plus it's awesome that bit-tech is covering Prey 2. Been looking forward to the day that I could say hey, "I'm working on that game", when reading a front page article on bit-tech. :)

Looking forward to playing it, Kudos to you for working on this scale of project =]
Losing the Native American lead is a loss. It was good to see a lead that wasn't another white male military-ish guy. I get the feeling game developers have the same level of international experience as movie producers...

looks excellent and i'm surprised to be saying it tbh, does take a lot from ME2 by the looks of things.
I enjoyed Prey but i got it for free with a graphics card, played it through in an afternoon. this looks like it could be much more interesting
I'm a big sci-fi fan so I can only take so many BC2 type shooters and the Bladerunner-esque type open world sounds v.interesting.

Ring a ring a... GAAAAASkfsgf;a;lf
Ghosts killing kids that then killed each other AAAAamsndlgsjd;l
AND WATCHING YOUR GRANDFATHER GETTING RAPED BY A 3 PRONGED SPIKE OF DOOM!
Yeah, awesome, but very wrong... The schoolbus is still one of the more terrifying things I have seen in a game...
