I was looking at this game before, but wasnt really sure what it was, but this review explained it to me, so I bought it in the end. Not really had much time to play it yet.
Things I like about it is the way I can tweek the ships and they do their thing like little autonomous ships, and there's no messing about with turn based stuff like GalCiv, I really liked the ship design in that game, but not keen on turn based games any more, I prefer things happening in "real time", a little like watching grass grow or sim city type.
Aargh! Now I have to watch Battlestar Galactica's end battle again! Or Star Trek TNG's final episode where the future Enterprise owns the Klingon battlecruiser, that was pretty cool too.
Having played this game a bit more, its got a lot more depth, but, would like to see more ship hulls to build stuff on. And only 3 classes of hulls? I would have to guess that is because its beta... would like to see a death star or something.

It's fricking excellent.
as the review states, it's beta, they may help with that before it's released.

On porpoise?
Mulling over this one, it looks fantastic and should be right up my alley if it's anything like Homeworld battles.
Do the battles resemble those in Homeworld? I.e. are they in 3d space or on a 2d plane?
Not any more.
The second link is now, after following a further link, going straight through to the same article on "gizmo gamer"
