The problem is that there really isn't any good reason for the game to favor a pad over the platform's standard interface. Due to poor design, a game which by rights should work fine with a mouse and keyboard, doesn't. It's a matter of poor design limiting the game's accessibility on the platform it is being played on. I see no reason NOT to give it a lower score for that failing. If a console game required you to buy/use a mouse and keyboard for no apparent reason other than poor implementation, it would also deserve a lower score. Or if a game could only be played satisfactorily with a brand new peripheral that you have to buy despite any reasonable need for a different input device, it would also fail - which is pretty much the situation for someone who does not already own a pc-compatible pad.
1) people who play game on a PC without a gamepad and they dont have a console - raise ur hand...
2) people who play game on a console with a pad (duh) and dont have a PC - raise ur hand...
3) people who play game on a PC with a pad.... regardless u have a console or not - raise ur hand...
now, from what i experience from friends (and foes), people #3 is quite a lot less than either people #1 or #2.... so IMHO, im on Joe's side here, sotu1... if its a game released for a PC, I believe it's required to be fully enjoyed using keyboard+mouse combo. some game pointed out that PAD is optional and may enhanced the experience, sure... but REQUIRE a pad to enjoy it the way its meant to be played (hey i sound like nvidia), that's bad. like, b-a-d.
if AItD is a game meant to be played with a pad to enjoy fully, then just put it on the console and dont even dream u can succeed on the PC regardless how polished a game can be.
good review Joe. but i think i might pick it up after a price drop in a few months. the trailer where u fool around with the fire extinguisher is cool :)
