there is a reason why the MX510 and the old I.E 3.0 are still appreciated by a lots of gamers. Maybe they should to try and learn from this instead of trying to sell us their BS products that look like they came right from a bad 80's sci-fi movie ...

Meh, it doesn't look as bad as the Sidewinder mouse.

Wow, its like someone saw the Sidewinder mouse and thought "HEY! I CAN MAKE A MOUSE UGLIER THAN THAT!"
And then they did it.
And it sucked.

Agreed on the MX510 love. I think the mouse industry is actually going to have some trouble tbh - mice last for years and once you've found "the one" for you there is very little reason to change. The only reason I'd get rid of my MX510 would be because it broke, and I'd be replacing it with a 518 (a clone basically).

Another lover of the MX510 here, damn shame the Vista drivers are pap :X

I just replaced the gimmicky Logitech G5 with the steelseries Ikari after the right mouse button inexplicably stopped working. This thing is so much better, it's quite ergonomical and the DPI selection is much better than the three preset settings on the G5.

Can't see why I'd want something that looks like its made from Lego after using this sleek little thing.

lol, thats exactly what i've done. The one addition the 518 has over the 510 is adjustbale dpi, useful in bf when flying, assualt or sniping i find. it just fits soooooo perfectly. But this mouse will sell as you guys have said with the cs 1.6, a market only needs to be identified for a product to sell.

I actualy quite like the looks... not very inotative as far as saitec go though. A few years ago they had a mouse that used force feedback to give each button a different feel and my joystick is ludicrously configurable to virtualy any humanoid hand. I see why they are making things other than sticks though as there are very few stick games around anymore.. (this upsets me freespace 2 with force feedback is isane fun) (for those who haven't experaince proper force feedback (rumble dosen't count) you have missed out).
Quote pizan 7th June 2008, 16:49
this mouse really isnt that complicated it does take a bit to get used to the feeling of it and whoever said something about there palm not fitting it well should not be plaing games if they palm there mouse...anyway the mouse is easy to program. there software and drivers are so much better then razer's (it works in different usb ports). the feet on it r very nice and i use most of the buttons depending on the game (profile) of it. the binds range from server admin commands to making little kids feel bad for sucking.

and there is a keyboard Squadexodus, i had to get bc my orignal Saitek keybard crapped out when i spilled a beer on it (go figure) i think its much better quality then the mouse though
Quote Bluephoenix 7th June 2008, 17:25
thanks for making the request happen joe, this is exactly the reason I hoped for a bit-tech review before investing any money in the thing.

the saitek sticks may be good, but looks like they need to work on their mouse department
Quote jubei2k1 7th June 2008, 19:15
I've been using one for just over a week, I have been impressed so far and would like to add the following points,

Positive,

It fits my hand perfectly
Its easy to program and switch between game profiles
The hat switch is an excellent feature

Negative

The forward button is in an awful position and takes a bit too much pressure to press
I still haven't found a decent position for the wire
It features a red LED and everything else on my system is blue!

I have upgraded from an intellimouse explorer 2 and this is my first gaming mouse so I don't have the benefit of any comparison but I have found it a worthy upgrade for me.

Re: (Cyborg is a stupid name) "...but at least Razer has an on-going theme"

Hasn't Saitek used the Cyborg name for it's joysticks and other gaming stuff since before Razer even existed?
Quote crompers 8th June 2008, 02:33
what a ridiculous object, i'd be quite embarrased having that on my desk.

when my gf walked in the convo would go pretty much like this

gf: what is THAT?! (in the slightly bemused tone she uses everytime i show her a gadget)
me: thats my new mouse, u like it?
gf: well.......but.......you're 23?!
(gets diamondback out of its box and returns stupid length adjusting desk ornament to whence it came)

Ikari Steel Series and proud here.

That thing looks like a (old-version) Cylon Centurion mated with a Roomba.
