just one last thing Solidus, that was NOT a personal attack on you, i am sorry if it looked like it, and i admit i did not look at your stats, i was also about to post my achievements in various games, but i don't keep track of them.
I used to play a game called C&C renegade a lot, i would be the player that killed less and died the most, but, i was almost always in the top 5 because i would achieve the goals that people would not do because they were to busy killing and not doing the objectives.
in about all games i play i am the "die-a-lot-do-a-lot-in-the-most-strange-way" kind of player, i remember playing on lans against pseudo-1337 guys in CS and rapping them all with a shotgun or any other less used weapon and dieing every round....and being called a hack, LOL.... i miss going to LANs....
i am not here to impress, i am simply stating that like you i am also a good player and i have played lots of different games in my existence and simply try to have fun in them in the most insane way possible.
when i say "saying that UT is a load of **** is about the same as saying that about all arcade type FPS is **** " i am only considering the family of arcade type FPS, not squad based or realism based FPS, in that i am considering that QUAKE and Doom are arcade FPS
"bunnyhopping/running around non-stop and holding the trigger button while pointing your gun in the general direction of your enemy while doing the other two" will get you killed really fast in a game against a medium skilled player in UT ;)
lastly i was not trying to do a flame war, really i did not, i believe in peace, games and rock and roll ...... and beer :D
/me extends my open hand in sign of a peace handshake.

*Slaps you with a highfive*
Its cool, theres different tastes of games i understand and my comments were ignorant I admit. I put it down to "simply bunnyhopping and shooting" but Im not that ignorant, i know theres more to it and put enough time in a game and theres differing skill levels among players. Im just a player that likes more depth and meaning in games, i hate games that just give you a gun and want you to go out and kill, i want tactics, i want strategy, skill and most of the time i want realism! I just find unreal doesnt cut that for me. Its other peoples slice of cake im sure and I guess I cannot understand why! my standard of games is such a niche its hard to fullfill. Unreal must be a good game for a reason, not for me but for others - perhaps it fills there need of pickup and play action? the opposite of what i want? its points of views at the end of the day.
Sorry for coming across ignorant and my comments, i still hate the game with a passion but maybe im too particular and thats just down to me? ;)
for me a round of "vanilla" UT is like cup of strong coffee.
like Solidus i also like some depth in my games, that is why i love games with some story and logic behind them.
ow... sorry for the off topic people..... on topic: i simply cant wait for COD4, COD2 is one of my favorite games ever.... i think i have to upgrade my machine very soon......

Thank you for understanding that.
You were right, my 'noob' comment was not necessary and was kinda hypocrite, but even though it's a lame excuse, the language barrier makes my vocabular limited and sometimes I just choose the most obvious word.
I am probably a fanboy like you said I am but I never bashed your game, I just defended mine. I've been playing this game for 8 years and it's always frustrating to see that some people think you're a total noob because it's UT you play and not CS1.6 or any other popular game
I believe each player has a different view of the word skill (in fps games). To me skills are ,for example, when a player is able to headshot someone in the air with a lightning gun. On your side, I assume that knowing when and where to call artillery is part of skills. To me it's all about experience because unlike skills, it does not require reflexes mixed with precision.
I admit though that if I go play BF2, i have no idea what the hell I am doing and all I want is to frag people
CoD4 looks great. anybody saw the trailer? it looks awesome. now that im bored to death BF2/SpecOp/2142, maybe this will get me back on track wit FPS....currently playin LOTRO while waiting for Crysis and Assasin's Creed - which ill play the SinglePlayer only....
just my 2c.
oh, and i do play UT/UT2 up to LAN tourney, and i do have to say, i enjoy BF2/team-based/objective-based shooters better, so i dunno, i sincerely think that UT3 = UT2 + (much) nicer graphic. thats it. too bad. but ill save my judgement till i can ride around in one of them vehicles >:D
Does the holding your breath thing work? In MoH:AA, the lazy ass devs didn't implement it properly. They seemed to think that the analogue triggers on a 360 pad were the same as the switches under mouse buttons. The manual says something along the lines of "press the mouse button slowly"...

Yeh it stabalises the gun, tried it in the demo, its nothing amazing however, just your standard rocking and when you hold shift i think it was, you hold it straight no rocking, handy if your fast enough at aiming or picking off people from afar but no idea how long it lasts, i would think limited amount of time.
This must be the weirdest topic reading i had in a long time..
First someone uses this topic to blame bittech for not showing anymore mods (since april) hell yeah! where are they???
Then 2 guys started the my game is better then your game flaming.
Then the gameflamers starting to flame each others skills and 'personal' abilities.
Then a mod steps up the plate saying: "ksst! bad boys.."
And then they (the flamers) are mod-hypnoticed voodoodollled or something by Tim, and starting a highfive handclap contest and giving tips to each other how to handle a weapon..
I aboslutely suck at CoD2 online but I'm not going off on one, and yeh I agree it does have an amazing single player storyline and yeh I guess the graphics still hold up pretty damn well today... I'm sure every agrees that CoD3 was a bit.. well cack

Weird....
dude, its rule 34.... j/k
anyway, it was simply a miss understanding and a little bit of culture gap. :)
Getting back (slightly on topic) to CoD4, I have to disagree with the "CoD2 was the best of the bunch" statement. I actually like the original CoD (with the UO addon) better. Not only do you have a much more difficult single player game (I stormed through CoD2 in a couple of hours on the most difficult level) but the multiplayer mode in CoD:UO is sooo much better. I have to say that BAS and CTF are the best multiplayer modes in the game series and if CoD4 doesn't do BAS then it will suck (IMO).
Anyway, I'll get back to work now and watch the flames from afar (well, within 88 range anyway :) )

After playing the demo level of COD4, I found it alright. Not stunning, but.. alright. Then I jumped into the UT demo and had a gibfest :)
