Nice article. I hope they polish it out more based on your complaints. I have a few questions:
1. Do you auto heal in every suit mode, or just armor mode? How fast do you auto heal? (I f'n hate auto-healing)
2. When you hold enemies up by their necks, can you punch them in the face?
3. How many weapons did you get to use?
4: Do you know what kind of hardware you were working with, and how did it run?
5. Do you fear this game will carry the EA curse?
Hopefully the suckage AI can be put down to it's alpha/beta status. In my experience devs usually balence the game later on after most issues are out of the way.
Looks gorgeous though.

1. You only heal in armour mode
2. I don't think you can - Rich was the more accomplished punch/grabber
3. A pistol, an SMG and the fists so I guess that counts as three ;)
4. I believe it was playing on an 8800 GTS 640 and a Q6700... gameplay was very fluid and I'd imagine you can push settings up a bit more on that card. I'd be highly surprised if you couldn't come release (once it's been through QA, play testing, and so on)...
5. I hope it won't, and I don't think EA would be stupid enough to do that... there's a lot of work to do on the balancing, but I think most of that can be put down to alpha/beta status. I'm still looking forward to it, even if I am slightly underwhelmed by that experience. :)

Can you shoot any part of a tree and it breaks where you shoot? Or is it sort of a pre-done animation, i.e. shoot it anywhere and it breaks in the same place?

From what I've seen both in and out of game, you can shoot the trees and it breaks where you shoot. As far as I'm aware, you can break the tree down and then continue firing (and breaking) either the stump or the broken branch/trunk. :)
That looks brilliant - the water effects are absolutely mindboggling. Farcry brought us very pretty water, Crysis brings us uber waterage. I'll probably end up just jumping in and out of the water for like an hour.

1. I hate to counter Tim on this one, but you do heal in every mode, just really slow. Armor heals you much faster.
2. Yes you can, snoop around IGN for their E3 videos
Blimey I almost mistook some of those screenshots on the last page to be real life from the thumb nails, it looks incredible, and hopefully the final version of the game will be a lot cooler with respect to AI and the like.

Thanks for the correction on that point, much appreciated :)

sorry, I missed that part! Anyway, this game looks sick! Can't wait for it

OMG YES YES YESSSSSSSSSS......*****
i was waitng for the news whether a 640 can handle it or not or do i need to shoot a hole in my wallet on getting SLI...
I decided to register here after hearing this rant...a lot of problems in this article.
First of all, there is a huge difference between armour and strength. In armour, you pretty much absorb all the incoming bullets, and health recharges much faster than usual. You're also slower when it's enabled. In strength, well you're pretty much jacked up on incredibly effective steroids. So you can flip jeeps, throw objects far distances, grab enemies by the neck, jump 10 feet high etc. Big difference. Stealth will obviously be tuned - and don't forget that a sniper in thick vegetation with cloak is an extremely powerful weapon. Five seconds seems more than enough, and switching to armour, therefore increasing your energy very quickly, will give you the opportunity to use stealth in no time.
Secondly, you're complaint about the middle mouse button was rather odd. No other publications felt alienated by it; in fact they seemed to grow onto it.
Thirdly, you guys are ranting on how the game is so easy. It's the first level. It's supposed to be easy in order to let the player become comfortable with the control scheme. Not to mention there is also a "Delta" difficulty. This means "it's going to be brutal, and that the action will be more realistic". You'll be just as weak as the North Koreans. And the AI is still being worked on.
Lastly, motion blur can be adjusted via options. Turn it all the way off if you so desire.

Common, that stuck out like a sore thumb. Easily HALO 3 takes that title among the general population.
I want to see this game more than play it, but hopefully on somebody else's computer. Somehow I doubt that it will look very good on my 6800GT.

Nice tree snapping action!
And my God, couldn't they provide some screenshots? Or something?
Taking photos of a screen is soooo lame. No offence, of course.
Yep, I think we broke that news here: http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2007/07/23/writing_for_the_lcd__fps_games/5

Wouldn't allow us unfortunately :(
Fixed the dead links - thx ;)

Nice to know it'll run at some quality with 8800 cards .
BTW : You actually do have teammates in crysis , you just don't in that level ...

my life ends on november 16
