shhh... I was tired and wrong

Just a quick query folks. Can infantry from another player board your transports? Haven't been able to get someone to try this out with (probably because most are still learning the game).

Meh, this game's not too bad. As much as I like the scenery and scenario, I'd appreciate an FPS take on it.

Some more performance stats: Core 2 Duo E4300 @ 3Ghz, 2GB 800MHz DDR2 5-5-5-15, 8800GTX (stock clocks), Vista Home Premium.

1920 x 1200, 16xAF, everything else turned on to highest setting (or just on if applicable)

4xAA gives Max: 42, Average: 21, Min: 18.
2xAA gives Max: 48, Average: 23, Min: 20.
0xAA gives Max: 56, Average: 32, Min: 24

Dropping down 20 1680 x 1050 I can go as far as 16xCSAA and still pull Max: 43, Average: 22, Min: 20.

Speaking more subjectively though, framerate feels smooth throughout at 1920 x 1200 4xAA and the game doesn't look like it needs any more anti-aliasing. Personaly I'd rather have the higher resolution, it's just more immersive.

Loading times are about 10-15 seconds per map which is fantastic imo.

DX10 native coding FTW methinks!

I just ran the beta on this system

AMD 64 FX Dualcore 2.6ghz
Asus A8N32 SLI Deluxe
4gigs Corsair XMS
2 EVGA 8800gts 640mb's in SLI
X-FI ExtremeMusic
37in Westinghouse at 1920x1080 8ms 60hz

All ingame graphic settings MAX'D

I ran it in both Single Card and SLI to see what kinda performance jump I get with SLI and I got very little to no performance increase. This may be due to one of my cards being faulty, 1 card is showing pixilation and I need to get it replaced because I'm sure that's the culprit.

Tho it still ran smooth on my system. Looks phenomenal for sure! I didn't notice any fps slow downs. Except the first time I saw a nuke dropped. But every nuke since then hasn't slow'd me down either.

I believe I was getting an avg FPS of 30-40ish and a min of like 16 can't remember exact figures

Some more screenshots.

First my current desktop background (couldn't afford the three :()

The smoke looks 10x better than this in game and moving, but I think this a pretty good indication of how good the reflections look when your not too busy blowing things up to see the water up close.

And lastly here's something Joe missed out, the view looking out of the nuke blast radius form inside! You can't hear the cool geiger counter clicking though

On closer inspection, the graphics are best summed up as:

I think the infantry must consist of John Rambo and Arnie clones. In the open they pretty much bite the dust pretty fast. Give them cover in the forrests for example and they can really dish out the good stuff to choppers tanks...you name it. Only problem is when the enemy pyromaniac decides to light you up with a napalm strike. You almost feel sorry for your troops when they scream. I'm amazed at the balance of the game, everything seems to be well thought out. I just wish there were less options for artillery with the TA points. Heavy/light and precision arty strikes are a bit OTT concidering you have Arty units in the game which can pretty much anything half the map away. All in all though, a very addictive combination.

I downloaded the beta and have been playing it the past few days. Besides a few obvious bugs, such as player names not showing up when they join (It just says "has join the game") I can't find any fault with the game play.

Fast paced is ++.

My ONLY gripe is an idiotic move on Massive's part. Dual monitor support is only enabled for DX10 users. This was confirmed in this thread here: http://beta.massgate.net/read.php?4,333. As several posters in the thread point out, it is obviously not a dx9 limitation since Supreme Commander does dual monitors just fine. I was excited when I read that the game supports dual monitors and was very dissapointed when I learned I wouldn't be able to utilize both of my screens.
