why only two? would it not make more sense to review more than two? They've both turned out crap so what do we buy now ?

Again, the situation could be resolved by removing my glasses, but since I can't read off a screen without the,

I think this should be 'without them' ? :) Not a bad article, but I feel there's a much wider range of headsets to be covered!

The microphone also holds up well at recording sound, both with and without the foam cover.

hang on a minute, I have the Sennheiser PC 161 ( I don't wear glasses) and I didn't find no foam cover for the mic.
What the hell ? Have I got ripped ?

This has been covered before. Waiting to get hold of all the headsets available would mean very infrequent reviews, and isn't a very efficient use of time.

We've also introduced the related articles feature at the bottom of the page which should help readers find other similar products we've reviewed so they can compare them against each other.

Yes, I'm afraid you have got ripped, sorry. I've got one of the little mic covers sitting in my desk right now, but don't worry because the PC 161 looks better with it off IMO.

Creative Fatal1ty Headset
UK Price (as reviewed): £25.57 (inc. VAT)
US Price (as reviewed): $78.43 (inc. tax and shipping)
Surely a mistake - we haven't FINALLY found something that is cheaper in the UK than the USA?!? Somebody better call ROB at the Department of Unjustified Exploitative Price Hikes to tip him off.

Check out the news about Tomb Raider anniversary too - we get that a full 4 days before they do in the US of A! W00t!

Noise cancelation? 5.1 support? Things that are common in looking for a gaming headset?

I'm sorry to tell you but you have no idea , i'm currently using a sennheiser pc160 ( of wich the 161 is just the same without " bugs " ) and it's superiour to the siberia's both in sound quality , surround and microphone ! The only thing actually better on the siberia are the looks , they're pretty damn hot i have to admit :>

grtz

I always reccomend that someone get a closed can, possibly the sony mdr-v6 ot beyer dt770.

Then after that, pic up a good clip on mic.

lol in your whole Sennheiser review you didnt actually tell us how they sounded.

Thanks a lot for putting the US prices along with the GBP in reviews! Makes things a lot easier for us Yanks.

"The sound quality is decently passed down through the earpieces, but those massive cushions could put off some. "

that seems like all he said.. they're 'decent' :|

/agree... and likewise I'm surprised the Creative stuff is cheaper over there
Quote hughwi 30th May 2007, 18:46
what about their sound performance? things like surround sound placement (i know they arent true 5.1 but they can still provide directional sound) i would have thought that sound quality would have been a major point of the article... i mean aesthetics and practicality are important, but at the end of the day, i choose my cans on sound quality, and im guessing most people wont want to buy more than one set of headphones so those that give good sound quality are a better buy, as they could double as multimedia headphones? also, with such a price difference between the two sets, surely sound quality must be differential? or is this just me?
Quote CowBlazed 30th May 2007, 19:08
Thanks for putting the US prices as well, its weird how we pay so much more for the fatality and yet so much less for the senheiser, the PC150 and 160 series have also been cheap low cost headset solutions over here.
Quote Kipman725 30th May 2007, 21:48
Gaming headsets suck just get a desktop mike and a decent pair of headphones.. as for the glasses issue the onyl headphones that will work with those are those which rest on the outside of the ear... which leads to problems getting a good seal and bad bass response.

For noisy lans closed headphones are needed. I tried using Hd-650's at a lan once which was hopeless as there open and had to b e cranked up to dangerous levels to drown out ambient.
Quote hughwi 31st May 2007, 00:03
i have a pair of HD-497's which are closed and are really comfortable when wearing glasses. they just need a bit more padding around the edges, and maybe a slightly wider distance between the two earphones
Quote toric334 31st May 2007, 01:43
Pair of Beyerdynamic DT770s is where its at for gaming tbh.
Quote xrain 31st May 2007, 09:17
I think I'll be keeping my Grado labs sr125's ;).

I think it does make a difference if you have good headphones or not, because cheap ones don't always play the sounds accurately making it harder to figure out where your enemy is coming from...
Quote Hugo.B 31st May 2007, 10:01
I find that with headphones you get a real advantage...
I hide on one side of a fence in True Combat: Elite, then I can hear anyone on the other side of the fence...and get them. :)

The prices are pretty wack and I didn't read the whole review since I've already read reviews on these items before. I did read the conclusion's though. In the Fatal1ty you noted that the USD prices were a little crazy but the senny's flipped around the pricing where the UK prices were crazy and the US prices were actually $20 less than the Fatal1ty's yet the Fatal1ty's still get a better value score. I realize this is a UK based forum but maybe there could be 2 scores in future reviews. I mean everything would stay the same except value right? Performance isn't going to be better because of where you live.

Nothing to huge I just thought it should be said
