I've gone for a GTX in my new system and a 20" 1680x1050 monitor, so I should be able to add plenty of AA and AF.
Yeah, safety catch is either missing or on (pushed in from left side....or was from the right side....been a long time since I fired an SA80). The SOSAT scope looks right though.
Maybe it's a some kinda el cheapo left handed East European made knock-off because in 2012 the British M.O.D. is so bankrupt Enfield gets sold off to a Czech company.
I just joined because i had to ask..., what about the multiplayer? ;)
The game isn't out until this Friday and unfortunately there were no press servers available to test multiplayer. We can't use the available MP beta for *reviews* of final code.
The good news is that it looks like a bunch of guys on here are tee'd up to get the game this week so we look forward to seeing y'all online. I'm personally quite excited about the idea of multiplayer
I, umm, have it, and have been playing it for a bit today (about 4 hours) and I must say I'm seriously disappointed with this game.
The engine is quite honestly terrible and in all fairness it needs another 6 months to fully polish it.
Simple things like movement are far too clunky not to mention the movement bobbing of the camera, it's not smooth enough. It violently jerks up and down with a little side to side motion.
The interface looks like it was designed about 5 years ago, there is no real way of telling if you have actually hit your enemy, and when you get shot unless you are watching that health bar like a hawk there is no way to know. There just isn't enough feedback from the game.
It's trying to be Oblivion meets Quake meets Deus Ex and it seems to fail on a rather basic level.

Such a shame.
I have to say that I completely disagree with you. The graphics are quite good, and run perfectly fine on my machine completely maxed out at 1680x1050. This reminds me of what someone said to me yesterday. They said Vangaurd was inefficient crap because they had to run it on low on their 7300. Seems like people nowadays expect everything to run well on low end hardware. But anyway, at maxed out graphics look great imo. They remind me of HL2 as a lot of people say, but imo are much better. The textures and lighting look very good, and so does the skyline. Once again, I get no violent jerking with everything maxed out, so it seems like decent programming to me. I've only played it for a couple hours but I've enjoyed it so far. It kinda feels like some kinda mix between Fallout and Oblivion, except not boring like Oblivion.
Anyway to each person his own, but technically speaking the engine works perfectly fine.

Vash-HT; the problem is not really with the graphics engine but with things like the interface, and when I say clunky I don't mean bad frame rate, I mean poorly designed.
Things like you cant strafe properly while running, it slows you down to standard movement speed then if you let go of strafe it speeds you back up again.

dude that isnt a bug, its supposed to be like that
you try sprinting like a crab and see how far you get :p
Ok, in my eyes its flawed game play, how many other games wont actually let you run diagonally?
I'm sorry to all you lovers of the game out there but its really fundamentally flawed and really doesn't deserve the hype it's been receiving.
There are many other games out there that do a similar style of play far better. Oblivion is one of those. It's by far more polished.
Really, this game deserves no more than 6/10.
I guess each to his own at the end of the day. I just can't stand to play games that (to me) just feel so unbeliveably broken.
Running while strafing doesn't work... in real life that is. So what's your problem with not being able to do it in a game? If the guns had no recoil everybody'd scream "Unrealistic piece of crap!" but if they include something realistic that just keeps you from running sideways it sucks? Yea, sure. You have a mouse, move it and you'll turn in the direction you want to run. And no, shooting while strafing/running isn't all that realistic so no prob there... at least for me.
I think it's always good to get a game as realistic as possible as long as it doesn't hurt game play. And this feature/bug does not IMHO.

i know i've played some but i cant remember which :)
quake may let you sprint sideways and backwards but quake also lets you rocket jump, stalker is somewhat more realistic than that ;)
i agree, it doesnt deserve the hype, but tbh im sufficiently cynical that when i play a game thats been hyped this much i always assume the worst and so was pleasantly suprised when it turned out to be a good game :p
not great but definately not bad either
oblivion may be more polished, but oblivion is swords and magic, stalker is guns and radiactive widgets
much more fun :p

That's kinda funny, because in my eyes Oblivion deserves a 6/10, and its hyped far more than STALKER is. The gameplay in Oblivion is weak at best, the melee fighting is pathetically simple and so easy to exploit its ridiculous.
Also you mention in one of your previous posts you can't tell when you get hit, but in mine hit indicators pop up all over the place so I don't know what you're talking about. As for UI's, the UI in oblivion was terribly ported console menu, they could have done a lot better than that. And you can't argue that mods fixed it either, because you can't compare user mods to a unmodded game.
Anyone running STALKER at high resolutions (1960x1200), max settings with a couple of 8800s in SLI? Would like to to know what the FPS is with such a setup. :?

I'm playing it at 1920x1200 on a e6600 and a 1x8800gtx, getting about 30-40 most areas apart from in the dungeons where theres lots of shadows and lighting differences,
This game is harded than a porn star in heat. I doubt I'm more than 2% into the game and I'm quitting out of sheer frustration.
"Traverse the railway bridge!" it says; ok, says I. I try to go through, I get my arse handed to me by the military. One load later, I try going around them... success! I make it to the other side, only to be eaten by radioactive pig things. One load later, I make it further than the pig things... and I die. I don't even know how or why.

When I installed it, the difficulty in the options menu was on set on Master. Check that. I know, I nearly gave up too.

Sometimes with these games I find myself being pulled along on all different tangental missions... hopefully I'll get out of the area I'm in soon and can just explore (although the fences in certain areas are puzzling - free roaming? IDK...)
So far I'd give it 7.5/10.

Can't wait for this now :)
Yep the wrong way round rifles annoy me in games, pulse I've noticed that the safety catch is missing.
Is it me or do I know too much about this
Edit: yes I do

It would have been a good game, 2 years ago.
you try sprinting like a crab and see how far you get :p
Incidentally, if anyone hasn't bought a copy and is interested, it's available as low as £17.99
/end shameless plug :)

be sure and use "[" and "]" for medkits and bandages in the middle of battles.
