Afraid not, I'm from Windsor originally. Speaking of which, I didn't realise Bit-tech was based so close to my home town.

I can't wait to see how this box performs when running BF2, how many slots do you think you will run?
Spode 6th September 2006, 13:16 Quote
Oh well, he was a rider that rode in Lincoln quite a lot a couple of years back.

I live in Egham at the moment, which is 7.5 miles from Windsor. Windsor's lovely!

Do you ride yourself?

Really nice system!!! congrats bit-tech! ;)

Windsor is great, but I found Lincoln to be far cheaper so decided to stay once I'd graduated. I used to ride often, mainly street/trails, but since my DMR was stolen I rarely do.

/ontopic I'm interested to see how this server handles several games at once, as it seemed flawless last night with just CS-Source.

most of the guys using the bit | tag were players from the bit | team on the old server we used to have.

Actually last night was the first time I've played since the old server went down.

That's cos we've been playing CS together, well tim and myself anyway, for years and years and years! I haven't really played at all though since the release of 1.6 - and i mean the first 1.6 with the shield (did it ever get removed?) and all that rubbish, so i'm totally rusty :D

I wanna play :( Stupid timezones.

Why can't the server be left on all the time to let people play?

I eagerly await owning you all in Battlefield 2 (or Point of Existance mod, should you run that too.)

It's running right now.
DougEdey 6th September 2006, 15:18 Quote
My bad, from what I'd read it seemed like it was only open while you guys were playing.

I guess that CS Source is a bit more friendly to me in that respect, so it shouldn't take me long to get back to what I used to be able to do. :)
Source is so easy, especially to get headshots, i wish i could get into 1.6 ;) thats what you get when you play CSS first :p

had a go on it and have to say it's one of the least laggy servers I have played on that wasn't on a LAN with me. Well done bit-tech and TR and spode

i dont play source, no real reason i just prefer 1.6 though a server "pandemonium servers" is annoying me, the maps are always diff. than shown, as well as players, and i cant find ones i actually want :)
Rocket733 6th September 2006, 18:44 Quote
Was quite fun to get on and play. Even though my ping was ~100 it wasn't laggy at all. Nice work guys!

Awesome server, shame you're going to run Quake 4 on it though . That's probably the biggest waste of money a game has ever been for me, the gaming experience didn't get anywhere near q3. My personal opinion might not mean much, but if you look at the statistics of how much games are played each day (like on xfire.com) you'll see quake4 isn't even near the top. I would suggest:

Call of Duty 2 or Counterstrike 1.6 !! :D

These are both in the top 5 of most played games every day I check, together with CS:S, BF2 (obviously both good choices for the server ;) ) and WoW.

Please
yahooadam 6th September 2006, 19:40 Quote
Checked X-Fire
  1. WoW
  2. CSS
  3. COD2
  4. BF2
  5. CS1.6
  6. Guild Wars
  7. Wolfenstien - ET
  8. Silkroad Online
  9. WC3 - Frozen throne
  10. COD MP

In that order, suprised to see Wolf ET, Silkroad, and WC3 ont he list
So CSS is the most popular game they could host a server for ;)
Firehed 7th September 2006, 00:22 Quote
I wouldn't mind DODS, but as long as your map rotation isn't just dust 24/7 then I'll be quite happy with CSS (mind you, I STILL need to get that mouse back...). That and find a good computer to game on... I really wanna pick up one of those Mac Minis before I go using my MBP in Windows for gaming again (as the thinkpad we got from school has some crap integrated thing )

But I promise, I'll make it there eventually.

If I get my way there will be a 1.6 server!

I remember trying to go back to 1.6 and it felt aweful, thing is I used to love it.
Source is the way to go now, let 1.6 rest in peace :)
